Any confirmation that JF-17 carries this EW Pod?

@Beast @wanglaokan @LKJ86 @beijingwalker

The above pod is installed on which PLAAF/PLAN aircraft ? any news of its use on JF-17 ?

It could be a unique, tailor-made pod - Pakistan specific - and maybe offered for export to JF-17/FC-1 customers.

Per air cmd Khalid at franbrough there is a different pod assuming either Korean or Italian integrated for paf

Chinese pod may be for other buyers

China's strongest light fighter has broken through again: a small device exposure is soaring

15 July, 2019

Recently, Pakistani photographers have taken a key device of the "Dragon" two-seat fighter, and have already installed the test flight!

This equipment will make JF-17B "Zhenlong", get more voyages, more powerful combat power!

This is the aerial refueling tube of the "Dragon" two-seat fighter. This equipment was not installed during its initial flight test. However, the latest Pakistani photos show that the aerial fuel filler pipe has been installed on the right side of the pilot of the front seat of the "Dragon" two-seat fighter.

This equipment will undoubtedly enable the "Dragon" two-seat model to obtain a larger range of voyages, attacking targets farther away, or planning more complex routes to implement enemy covert attacks, avoiding ground or air defense firepower, or extending Leave time blank to significantly improve actual combat effectiveness.

The air refueling pipe looks simple, but because it changes the aerodynamic shape of the aircraft during high-speed flight, the resulting airflow may interfere with the normal operation of the aircraft, making it difficult to develop and test on the surface. In modern fighters, it is also necessary to use the combined effects of flight control software and hardware to ensure that flight characteristics are not greatly affected by the increase of this prominent foreign object.

On the Shenfei 歼-8II fighter, the added air refueling pipe used to seriously interfere with the pilots in the cockpit, generating huge noise, which made the pilot almost unable to listen to various communication or alarm sound signals. After various arguments and improvements, the problem is initially resolved.

Recently, the "Jilong" two-seat fighter has been delivered to Pakistan in small quantities. After Pakistani pilots took part in the test flight of the new JF-17B two-seat multi-role fighter, the model was shipped to Pakistan for further testing and testing equipment in the area. The two-seat modification of the JF-17 fighter jet jointly developed by China and Pakistan will not only complete the test as soon as possible, but also equip the Pakistan Air Force in batches and will also export to the users of the third-party countries of Myanmar and Nigeria. The first JF–17B two-seat production began in 2017 after Pakistan and China started a joint celebration in Chengdu.

Compared with the single-seat JF-17 fighter, the JF–17B two-seat model is not a simple improvement. Instead, it uses a large number of structural and flight control improvements from the second and third batch designs of the “Dragon” single-seat. JF-17B will significantly improve the combat and training capabilities of the Air Forces such as Pakistan.

The design of the JF–17B, specifically based on the original JF–17 second batch of fighters, has been improved in addition to the addition of a second seat, including improved three-axis digital fly-by-wire control. System, extended nose, improved vertical tail structure, altered advanced composite ratio, and greater wingspan. According to reports, the aircraft is also equipped with a more powerful radar model than the JF-17 original radar, which remains to be confirmed, but it is likely to give this fighter a greater degree of situational awareness.

AVIC said that the JF-17B is longer and wider than the single-seat version, but the height is reduced

The two-seat configuration also allows it to be a more efficient electronic warfare platform, or a ground-to-sea precision strike platform. The second seat can accommodate a weapon system officer, conduct electronic attacks or self-defense, operate complex weapons, and pilots focus on flying planes and fighting.

The Myanmar Air Force may purchase the enhanced "4+ generation" JF-17 third-lot fighter and eventually replace its MiG-29 fleet.

According to the latest news, China Aviation Industry Corporation announced that the JF-17B two-seat fighter aircraft also has a digital cockpit upgrade design. The aircraft mainly uses three kinds of Chinese weapons - PL-5 short-range and SD-10 medium-range air-to-air missiles, and C-802AK medium-range anti-ship missiles.

And how is this related to the EW-issue??

And how is this related to the EW-issue??
You know what...., I was too lazy to search for a JF-17B Topic. I thought about posting it in Sticky Threads: Mushshak Trainer Aircraft, but eventually said...what the hell.

If you don't find anything of your interest...just move on.

J16D Growlers are now a reality...
We can expect a JF17B Growler version now.

No, since the Flanker is a very different beast ... I cannot imagine the JF-17 to carry a similar amount of pods let alone provide enough energy/electricity for the systems and even more it is either a small single seater or a twin seater with similar limitations.

Ahh Pakistanis and their infatuation with everything non Pakistani being excellent and their own crap

i doubt that the J17 engine can generate enough electrical power to drive those jammers properly - that is mostly why you see Growler equivalents as twin engined for the electrical requirements.

Waiting for someone to post

"Then we must turn JF-17 into a twin engine platform, it must be done, should be done, yada yada. "
