That there Thar is something, 'innit!

My Dad once sold 100's to a foreign country. I was a child an an early convert to Mahindra.

I have since concluded that Thar is the beat Geep ever made, anywhere. I will stand by my statement on tech. & biz grounds. Yea, Thar is better than Chrysler owned/made Jeep.

1 of my gr8est desires is 4 Mahindras ... to say ... 1/2 if not less, the price. Rs. 1 Lakh per geep
. Wow!

1.Maruti cars are running fine in India. But here in BD we have a terrible experience. About 50% break-down in the first 6 months. And after a year only about 10-15% ply on the road looking like de-shaped kerosine tins. Yes, that's the local name given. This one has ensured Indian cars have no market here.

2. Indian trucks are running all right. Only few Mahindra vehicles are seen, but I guess Mahindra is quality conscious and will do okay.

Refence the underlined part: likely that the roads are not too drive-worthy and the cars are probably not being maintained as per specified maintenence schedules. Then again the traffic in BD is very chaotic. I know first hand about all that because of having to travel to BD off and on over the years. Also how good is the fuel quality in BD?
I am no admirer of Maruti/Suzuki vehicles, and have never owned any back in India over the years. But many people I know, do own them; and while Marutis cannot be considered to be robust, are mechanically definitely not ridden with many problems. Rather if they are periodically serviced and reasonably driven, no problems are to be expected with the mechanicals. However, the bodies are made to crumple easily, which is hardly a positive. But still I'd never buy one in the fore-seeable future.

1.Sorry, have to differ. We are driving reconditioned Japanese cars for years and years. And they are going fine even after 30 years or so. Same road, same fuel, same everything. But even older Japanese models are of higher standard engine - Hibreed, etc which India may just be having now - I don't know. Our vehicles use lead-free fuel, and our quality is better than IOC's.

2. FYI, in 1972 when Indira Gandhi came on a visit Sheikh Mujib had presented her with a sleek Vauxhall Viva assembled at the Pragoti factory, Chittagong ( originally Gen Habibullah's GM plant, Gandhara).
