Malaysia rejects Indian Tejas and picks Korean FA-50

It does seem like the 2 new players in the defence markets are both Turkieye and Korea.

Korea scored big with its tank/jet/artillery sales it seems esp to Poland recently.

According to some Media outlet South Korea Selected FA-50 fighter jet in its LCA tender, but it already has hit a roadblock after the Malaysian finance ministry objected to the deal since the Koreans had offered the sale of 18 jets at RM 4.2 billion, way above the Chinese bid of JF-17 at RM 3.4 Bn and India’s indigenously built Tejas-Mk-1/1A at RM 3.75 Bn when the state budget for the deal was only 3.5 billion Ringgit Malaysia.

No need to be panic, your Air Force is already ordering many Tejas, why is so obsessed with foreign order while domestic order will likely be difficult to meet in term of production speed ?

Like the F16 claim, the claim of shoddy Jf17 was debunked. Taiwan Times is salty at China. Purely propaganda. I mean that faulty jet has some how accrued 150,000+ flying hours now whilst conducting combat sorties. Wonder how many combat sorties the Tejas did let alone flying hours?
A Tejas airframe has actually been tested for 3000 hours and certified for it. Stress tests for another 3000 hours is in progress. Despite what you may say, it is no joke.

Search for actual stress tests of airframes outside US and Europe and then say.

Tejas has a flawed canon and it's aerodynamics are less than ideal than what IAF would have wanted. But even then FA50 is not getting any close to the AoA Tejas can do or firing a off bore sight WVR like Tejas can. Ofcourse the FA 50 can be made to do those things, but that comes at a cost.

And that's where Tejas has a chance. A fighter jet version of FA50 will be more costly than Tejas.

Domestic....
But for replacing Mig21, Mig23 and Mig27 squadron capabilities it is more than enough.

Sticking with this program is necessary because when a war breaks out the spares and support from foreign nations will stop. So the Eurofighter is truly the best, but it's also true that come a time of conflict we will not be able to use it.

Its better to have something average that can be used than something which is excellent but cannot be used.

Malaysians sent out an RFP to HAL that itself proves that HAL/India is now a player on its own. Exports for Tejas might not happen now, may never happen. But this program is the base upon which all our capabilities will be built.

1.JF17 did not bid for Indonesia Fighter project.
2. The aviation cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea is deeper, because They have already purchased some T50 before. And Indonesia has also invested some money in South Korea's newly developed KF21.
3. Therefore, it is impossible for India's fighters to win the bid for this project from the beginning to the end.

Air show to Bahrain and fly the slot right before sunset so if it had to be cancelled than fewer people would know.

In 2017 first flight was expected in 2019. Now its 2024 at the earliest.

Ofcourse delays are there, delays in allocation of budget, duplication of efforts of agencies. But in specific case of India, India doesn't have the option to drop a local effort straight away. India lacks the resources to buy 300 airframes from a foreign vendor.

When India buys oil from Saudia, Saudia holds it over India. Similarly a large buy from US or Russia will yield similar results.

FA 50 is a much inferior plane with high price. I would say, bad choice Malaysia.

Interesting. Why was JF-17 dragged into this topic? Please check the candidates for this bid first. JF-17 was not in the bid. On the other hand, Malay got disappointed for using Russian jets, so they need to move to western planes. the SK FA-50 uses a lot of US & EU components, and I believe the price per should be lower than the LCA too. In this case, it is quite reasonable to pick FA-50.

lol even sanitation in India was also discussed here as well

Indians be like JF-17 Junk Fighter also got rejected
Nah they be like.. we are waiting for (made in Mera india) Kaveri engine to showcase a better batch and pitch a better price and sale..so we held back. And kept a low profile in front of Malaysians.

Big difference. In your country its part of culture to do it outside even when u have the "facility" at home.. in pakistan every house has a toilet.. its outside in public they lack the facility and thts what Imran khan was particularly talking about.
