    Operation Swarn: The Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express has become the first long-distance train to be upgraded under Indian Railways new Operation Swarn. The new initiative aims to upgrade several Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express trains across the Indian railways network to 'Gold' standards. As many as 10 parameters have been identified by Indian Railways to upgrade the passenger experience on these premium passenger trains. Rs 50 lakh each has been allotted for the upgradation of each train. Recently, the New Delhi-Kathgodam Shatabdi Express had been upgraded under this scheme. We take a look at all the changes that have been made in the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express under Operation Swarn:

    In all coaches, the torn rexines have been done away with and more comfortable and revamped berths have been introduced for passengers' comfort.

    Curtains in all coaches have been upgraded with a new fire retardant material in order to minimise damage in case of a fire.

    CCTV cameras have been fixed in the aisle areas of the train to ensure vigilance and avoid theft and untoward incidents. 15 days old data will be available at any given point of time. LED lighting has also been provided for saving power and ambient atmosphere.

    New night-signage berth indicators have been introduced.

    LED picture frames have been added in all coaches to enhance the interior look.

    The wash basin in the first-class AC coach has been upgraded with composite material. This has led to a marble-type finishing aimed at improving the interior look of the toilet.

    All lavatories have been provided with an auto janitor that will help control foul smell.

    High quality hot and cold water mixture and shower faucet have provided in shower room for better passenger satisfaction.

    The PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) flooring has been replaced in all coaches for a fresh feel.

    All coaches have been painted with high-gloss paint in the doorway area, inside the coach and the lavatory area.

    A toilet cleaning record will now be kept in for every toilet to ensure better levels of cleanliness. The doors of the toilet have been upgraded with vinyl wrapping. A good quality mat has also been provided in the area outside the toilet and the area connecting various coaches.

    In all AC first-class coaches the ladders for the upper berth have been equipped with a handle to grab. This would allow easier access to the upper berth.

    All wash basins in the doorway area have been replaced with stainless steel standards with good quality hand wash dispenser.

    All coaches have been provided with PVC swing door and a user friendly dustbin in the vestibule area. Also, LED lighting has been provided above the mirror glass to improve illumination in the doorway area.

    The pantry car has been provided with reflective window-film to prevent peering in through glass. Also intensive cleaning of the pantry area will now be carried out regularly for better hygiene standards.

    A new special type of user-friendly magazine bag/holder has been added.

    The power car window glass has been provided with a one way film.
 
The patchwork is awesome but this will not pass even the basic international safety and ergonomic standards!

The seats numbers are illuminated but not the "Emergency Exit"? :suicide:
 
nice...how long before it gets destroyed? My advice, don't use fabric seats, use pvc leather.
 
What happened to 200 KM Talgo type Modi promise?
All Jumla again..
 
Good upgrade for masses. More comfortable traveling in the same cost.
