Pakistan ‘hypnotically obsessed’ with India’s military: WikiLeaks

Sometimes one finds it difficult to tell whether it's the Indian establishment that is "hypnotically obsessed" in it's efforts to create a diplomatic quarantine of Pakistan or whether the failure to destroy the pakistan armed forces has led to a bitterness that will not be reconciled with the reality of a Pakistan that is one tenth the size of India, but also ten times the fight.

Our Indian friends and their US sponsors seem to think that Pakistan will play Palestinian or Arabs or Iranians -- they may want to rethink that one.

Whoa, what is this? Conspiracy theory Saturday?

"ten times the fight"? Fight against whom? Internal fight or external fight? Is this the new version of the old "Ten Pakistanis = 1 Hindoo" myth? :D

"US Sponsor"? US is sponsoring whom? India or Pakistan? Last I heard it was Pakistan!

the whole fishing boat story just makes me reminded of james bond...woohoo

Pakistan is a country which defied every ban in the world from missiles to nuclear to weapons to terrorism and still stands strong today. How many countries on the world map can you point which has accomplished the same feat without facing any kind of reprisal or even total destruction?

The question is ,if Kashmir is solved, will Pakistan's military still continue to remain Indo-centric?

If indeed peace is established will the military(which has ruled the nation for almost half of its history) be ready to make compromises?

Stands strong, last I heard in 2009 was you PM/President was requesting aid from other countries to survive. I do not think that can be termed strong.

What strength you have, list some without talking about military.

It is actually India which is obessed with Pakistan and never came to accecpt its existence for 40 something years post-partition. India still considers Pakistan as its breakaway part physchologically and politically...and has never let an oppurtunity go for defaming or discrediting Pakistan as well backstabbing with deciet and abusing trust. India wants to play the big brother of south asia and assume all roles and strategic intrests around the world connected to this region. Pakistan being the largest obstable to its goals.

Every region will have a country which is prominent . Can you deny the fact that India is the dominant power in the region?
Neither Pakistan is innocent not India. So its better not to rant calling foul when you fully know the truth.

About India not accepting the existence of Pakistan, nothing can be far from truth. Indian government has successfully created the impression that Pakistan is full of haters and some of Pakistan's actions have justified that opinion.

Pakistan is a good example of a country which in spite of being an ally to all the important powers of the world, still cannot be a success.
Its because too much importance is given to foreign affairs without caring about internal affairs.

This notion that Pakistan is "Obsessed" with India is quite incorrect. To be brutally honest no one in the Govt or military gives a hoot about India, they have certain people who's job it is to think over India.
It is their job to perceive and pre-empt, these are the men who are the brains behind the muscle of the military. The think-tanks that develop strategic and defence policy, who play international policy like a game of chess, attempting to think 6 moves ahead of their opponent.

A fire cracker pops in any corner of India and within the first minute the Indians start crying that Pakistan / ISI is involved in the Blast, even though it later turns out that its a fire cracker or the work of Hindu Militant / Extremist Organizations.

I think such attitude is more then enough to tell who is more hypnotically obsessed with whom, hope i don't need to mention what the mighty Indian Army COAS have to say in their rubbish talks of two front wars or that Pakistan is an irritant or other BS.

And india is a good example of a country which despite economic growth has more diseased nd poor ppl then africa, recieves AID frm the world and acts like a snob.

after what happened in 71' what do you expectt Pakistan to do? Put the army all in Afghanistan border?

You miserably failed to highlight your point.

Don't you see.... by using TTP tool, Pakistan army was forced to Afghanistan border long ago!

There are more Pak troops on Afghan border than collective world troops, and their is no point in putting all army to Afghan border while the activity their is limited to suicide bombing, IED's etc.

China, Pak irritants to India’s security: Indian Army Chief

Describing Pakistan and China as "two major irritants" for India's security, Army chief Gen V K Singh Friday said the armed forces should ensure the country has a "substantial" conventional war capability to fight in a nuclear scenario.
"We have two major irritants. One, there is a problem of governance in Pakistan where terror outfits receive support and where internal situation is not very good. And, therefore, it can have a fallout in terms of how these things impact India, reported PTI.
"Till the time the terrorist infrastructure remains intact on the other side, we have something to worry," he said inaugurating a seminar on 'Indian Army: Emerging Roles and Tasks' here.
He also referred to the threat posed by China which was rising both economically and militarily.
"Although we have a very stable border, yet we have a border dispute. And, therefore, the intentions need to be looked at along with this additional capability that is coming out," he said.
The Army chief said, "It impacts the way we will task our army and the role that we will give to it so that it can do the task that the nation wants. So, with this, lets also see what are some of the threats that we face or the challenges that we have".
He said, "Even though we have a stable border with China, we cannot take chances". He told the seminar organised by Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), an Army-sponsored think tank, that an all-out conventional war with China was "not not certain", but skirmishes were "certainly possible."
"We must have a substantial conventional war-fighting capabilities with the ability to fight in a nuclear scenario," he stressed.
Noting that India had no "extra-territorial ambitions," the Army Chief said India needed to be watchful of China's intentions in building up its military infrastructure.
