Pakistan Navy has inducted the first squadron of drones

Hi again

Just raising the question again if anyone had caught what number the squadron was going to be? Name as well?

Thanks!!!

there is more then 15 type of UAVs here made in pakistan sir better they look one of them falco is not 100% ours . BTW i don't think they need more as they have already comcopter S-100 and sqn of uqab also there is some thing else which crashed yesterday .

look very good test flight of comcopter S-100 from PN frigate .

Let me correct you here!

Pakistan Navy had placed a contract on IDS in 2009 for the supply of 4 systems of UQAB UAV. The total cost of the system purchased was about US$3 million. PN already has a minor squadron in Karachi that operated UK made target drones for ship-borne CIWS and missile shooting at sea. That same squadron has been tasked now to operate the UQAB for coastal surveillance.

It was pretty stupid however for the PN to publicize the UQAB UAV induction right after one crashed during its maiden test flight at Karachi yesterday! What a way to induct a first UAV system into PN!

Secondly, PN DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE ANY VTOL UAV in service let alone Camcopter S-100! The video that you have posted is from the Camcopter trials from PNS Shahjahan way back in 2008! A tender was floated earlier this year for VTOL UAV but lack of funds caused its ultimate demise! A detailed thread already exists on this topic here.

Lastly, Pakistan Navy indeed has a requirement for additional UAV systems that can be operated from ship and shore and should have long endurance. The induction of UQAB and now its ceremonial inauguration is just a start for the Navy especially for Admiral Noman Bashir who had committed to have a UAV system in PN service soon!

As it is mentioned that Drone is 100% made in pakistan, it arises surprise that why pakistan lags behind in heli's . I mean drone technology is much complex. This drone looks good in aerodynamics but why is helicopter like this

The story is not clear and dots are missing.
because its only the skeleton of the original helicopter

Pakistan navy inducts first UAV squadron

By Greg Waldron

The Pakistan navy has inducted its first squadron of indigenously-produced Uqab II unmanned air vehicles at Mehran naval station in Karachi.

The Uqab II is produced by Global Industrial & Defence Solutions, a conglomerate of seven Pakistani defence companies.

Launched from and recovered using a conventional runway, the design has a maximum range of 150km (81nm) and an endurance of 4h.

It can operate up to 10,000ft (3,050m) above sea level and carry a payload weighing up to 20kg (44lb), including a gyro-stabilised colour camera capable of capturing motion images in both day and night conditions
.

"Cognisant of heightened surveillance measures at all times, the induction of these UAVs will provide essential experience to the Pakistan navy and necessary impetus to utilise this particular segment of warfare to the best use of naval objectives," navy chief Adm Noman Bashir said.
