Orakzai, Khyber clashes kill 12 suspected militants

PESHAWAR: Eight suspected militants were shot dead as they clashed with security forces in the Orakzai agency area on Monday, DawnNews reported.

According to security sources, armed rebels clashed with security forces in the Galju area of Orakzai agency, wounding a soldier. Security forces killed eight suspected militants in retaliatory action.

Meanwhile, two banned militant groups clashed with each other in the Tirah Valley of Khyber tribal region. Four rebels were reported dead in the incident, while a pro-government militia-man was also killed.

15 terrorists killed in Orakzai Agency bombing:

HANGU: Fifteen terrorists were killed and five hideouts destroyed when fighter jets blitzed their hideouts in Orakzai Agency on Sunday, official sources said.

According to security forces, the jets bombed terrorist hideouts in Torsmat, Jabba Kellay, Akhunkot and Sama Bazaar in Upper Tehsil, killing 15 insurgents and destroying five hideouts. The dead included five terrorists of commander Ziaur Rehman group. The spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) has denied the security forces claims and said they suffered no loss. inp

9 militants killed as clashes continue in Orakzai:

KARACHI: Nine militants were killed and four insurgent hideouts were destroyed in shelling by security forces in the Orakzai tribal region, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

Clashes between security forces and militants are ongoing in upper and central Orakzai.

In upper Orakzai’s Mamozai area, four militants were killed and two insurgent hideouts were destroyed during heavy shelling by security forces.

Moreover, in central Orakzai’s Ali Sherzai area, five militants were killed and two insurgent hideouts were destroyed by security forces’ shelling.

Gunship helicopters pounded militant hideouts in the Jogi area of central Kurram destroying four militant hideouts.

According to sources, the house of Haji Muhammad Saleem, a tribal leader from Sada, central Kurram Agency was also partially damaged when militants placed a bomb nearby.

Sources close to Saleem’s family told The Express Tribune that two of Saleem’s daughters, two other children and his brother Malik Sardar were injured in the incident.

Saleem had played a vital role in the agreement between the Shia and the Sunni factions in the area. The agreement led to the reopening of Thall, Parachinar and Sada Highway after a span of three years.

In separate incidents, five security personnel were injured in a road accident in Dogar and two others were injured when a hand grenade went off in the Gul Shah Kalay area. The cause of the incident could not be immediately determined; however, local sources termed it as an acciden

Eighteen militants killed in Kurram, Khyber:

KURRAM: Eleven militants were killed on Wednesday when Pakistani gunship helicopters attacked their hideouts in the Jogi area of the northwestern Kurram tribal region, near the Afghanistan border, security officials said.

The death toll could not be independently verified, and militants often dispute official accounts.

Meanwhile, seven suspected militants were killed and one wounded on Wednesday as two banned groups clashed together in Khyber Agency, DawnNews reported.

According to government sources, the incident took place in the Nari Baba area of district Landi Kotal. Twelve militants have been killed so far during the week as a result of infighting between the two rival groups.

Two suicide bombers killed:

GUJRAT: Two alleged suicide bombers blew themselves up near Gorali locality on Tuesday.

According to police, two alleged suicide bombers, identified as Ramzan Ali and Muhabbat Khan of Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, wearing suicide jackets were heading towards their target on a motorcycle.

When they heard the sound of siren of the Rescue 1122 ambulance, they blew themselves up near Gorali, thinking that police were chasing them.

The explosion created panic in the city. DPO Rana Shahid Pevaiz along with a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and took the body of the bombers into custody. app

Five militants killed in Zhob:

QUETTA: Five militants were killed and 13 others arrested in a clash between Taliban militants and Frontier Corps (FC) troops in Murgha Kibzai area of Zhob District on Wednesday.

A FC spokesman said security forces received information about the presence of Taliban militants in Murgha Kebzai area and dispatched troops there. He added that when they reached the area, militants opened fire from a compound, injuring two FC personnel. Troops then returned fire and killed five militants. Later, during a search operation, they recovered a rocket launcher and several machine guns.

The FC spokesman said that security had been beefed up in Qila Abdullah, Pishin and Qila Saifullah after an increase in incidents of kidnapping for ransom.

KARACHI: Karachi Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) commander Abdul Qayuum and his three companions were arrested along with a suicide jacket, a rocket, a BM missile, two Kalashnikovs and bullets of different types, DawnNews reported on Thursday.

The Additional IG Crime Investigation Department (CID) said during a press conference that the accused were involved in the killing of 20 people including a police officer.

They were arrested while conducting a raid on the upper side of the Karachi, said the additional IG.

He said that personnel related to the law enforcement agencies were also included in their target list.

The Additional IG also said the accused had accepted their involvement in the bombings of December 9 and 10.

He said that they had also informed the police about the presence of two more suicide bombers in Karachi.

4 TTP members arrested in Karachi:

KARACHI: Police arrested four members of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Karachi along with suicide jackets and ammunition, Express News reported on Thursday.

While speaking to the media, Additional IG CID Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh said that those arrested include TTP Karachi Chief Abdul Qayyum Mehsud, Muhammad Sharif, Habib Mehsud and Usman.

The alleged terrorists were arrested from Valika Hospital Manghopir and Suparco mor. Police have also recovered two suicide vests, two BM missiles, two rockets, four Kalashnikovs, six TT pistols and 200 bullets from their possession.

Sheikh said that the arrested TTP members were trained in Waziristan and were wanted by police in cases related to kidnapping and robbery.

The Additional IG CID further revealed that they had attacked security forces in South Waziristan.

Five militants killed in Upper Orakzai

PESHAWAR: Five militants were killed and two hideouts destroyed when security forces bombarded militants hideouts in Upper Orakzai, claimed sources on Friday.
Six security personnel were also also severely injured when lightning struck a post in the area of Ghaljo, Upper Orakzai.
The injured were shifted to the hospital.
At least a foot snowfall has been reported in parts of Orakzai Agency, making access to the area difficult.
