It sounds stupid that we are sanctioning 1000 crores to this project which is to be executed by the same HAL that cannot even share 50 percent R and D of FGFA!They first have to complete the project at hand-TEJAS!

Whats the use of perfecting neolithic age technology in 21st century.world is on verge of retiring 4th gen moving on to 5th and 6th you are still not able to perfect 3rd gen and still pouring money on white elephants of drdo and hal.which cant do even single thing perfectly.Work with in your limits and deliver on time.

Clarification:

HAL doesn't do design, that's done by ADA. HAL is only responsible for manufacturing and small projects based on tech absorption (like Dhruv & LCH).

still its a bit of a surprise that why india has set out to make their own 5th generation plane when they are already getting the PAK-FA from Russian,and that they are participating in the development of the plane.

PAK-FA/FGFA is for Air Superiority role (similar to the Su30). AMCA has the same role as MMRCA. (imo)

HAL doesn't do that either, for eg: engine design/research is done by GTRE. HAL only does manufacturing

Ok so you probably talking about LCA tejas failure ,
yes agree ..... LCA took lot of time and It is still not Inducted and we are jumping On 5th gen fighter . But remember This project was ours first Of its kind. This was a first step towards building a strong aeronautic complex in future. It was a learning lesson - and HAL having a experience of over 30 years In This project - will surely be able to deliver Upcoming AMCA on time. It will be more boosted by experience gain during Su 30 mki and current FGFA with Russia. So I think Its a good step To take On Indigenous AMCA when we are parellel working on another 5th gen FGFA . best of luck to HAL / DRDO / ADA

My opinion is that indian defence labs are scamming indian public of its money by building castles in air in the form of new proposed projects on which they never deliver and even if it delivers by that time that technology will be obsolete.Money going to DRDO/HAL is like the scam of 2G spectrum and many other scams like that.

ask yourself ,how many available 5th gen fighter in the market for india to choice?What percentage of FGFA would india share if russia didn't have financial problems in this program?

hopefully this bird will fly before 2017 as indian wish,it looks .....um amazing

^^^ Russia/India is one unit when it comes to making 5th gen fighter.

PAK-FA/FGFA will be shared by both, so techinically after USA, most probably India/Russia will beat China to developing 5th gen fighter.

Thats AMCA buddy - Our Indigenous 5th gen , we are working with russia On FGFA - similiar to PAK FA
