And then Americunts lost the war and ran like a bitch.

Yeah that one
You mean the war where the Americans fought the North Vietnamese, the Soviet Union and China to a stalemate and a peace agreement, which the North Vietnamese and its cronies reneged on two years later?

Maybe that is the problem -- reliance on US.

Perhaps a while ago, reliance on US made sense. But not today. The EU was not even a dream back then, but it is reality today, and that means it MUST, not should, be Europeans who defends their lands.
The last time I looked, Europe had provided twice the amount of aid to Ukraine compared to the US. This is both military and civilian aid.

Vietnam is now much more aligned with the US, so the current winner of the Vietnam War is - ta dam - the United States.
That makes China the loser and the Soviet Union an ”also ran”.

News flash: Vietnam is in the US economic orbit and has been for the last 20 years, following the path of Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Its a co-existence that 40 years later you could say did work out in the US favor.

Vietnam is neither in China’s economic or political orbit.

Fancy way of saying you ditched your ally and ran.

Who is Vietnam's largest trading partner and where does 30% of Vietnam's electricity come from?

Hint: It's not that hard.

And the US denied China the rest of Asia.

Chapter 28 America: The Anticommunist Anchorman
Although American intervention failed in Vietnam, it brought time for the rest of Southeast Asia. In 1965, when the U.S. military moved massively into South Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines faced internal threats from armed communist insurgencies and the communist underground was still active in Singapore. Indonesia, in the throes of a failed communist coup, was waging konfrontasi, an undeclared war against Malaysia and Singapore. The Philippines was claiming Sabah in East Malaysia. Standards of living were low and economic growth slow. America's action enabled noncommunist Southeast Asia to put their own houses in order. By 1975, they were in better shape to stand up to the communists. Had there been no U.S. intervention, the will of these countries to resist them would have melted and Southeast Asia would most likely gone communist. The prosperous emerging market economies of Asean were nurtured during the Vietnam War years.
One could argue that the US did the largest save of humanity from an evil yet seen in history. Lee also exposed China's attempt to foment race wars in all ASEAN countries that had ethnic Chinese in their population.

The last time I looked, Europe had provided twice the amount of aid to Ukraine compared to the US. This is both military and civilian aid.
If Ukraine fall, the EU will have to look among themselves to see who WOULD BE, not could be, Poutine's next victim.

It was actually a quite difficult balance. Give enough support to Vietnam so it won't be a West puppet state with US fleet park in Cam Ranh Bay.
After US fled, Vietnam would have inevitably tilted to the Soviet (same as North Korea), and the new regime with boasted confidence, ambitions aimed at the whole of Indo-China.
So, China would have to intervene. The war was designated to be short, pity not enough to force Vietnam a withdraw from Cambodia, but the skirmish kept on for a decade. And the objective of China was accomplished in this region.

The rhetoric nowadays is quite childish about that history.
