Taiwan Points to Own Carrier-Killer Missile

Taiwan’s ministry of national defense (MND) caused a sensation during the preview of the 2011 Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition by displaying a billboard depicting an aircraft carrier, similar to China’s ex-Varyag, being blown up by a Taiwanese Hsiung Feng III anti-ship cruise missile.

It is very unusual for the Taiwanese to so blatantly highlight that its weapons are aimed at China, says one industry analyst, adding that the decision to use a Varyag image in the advertisement may have been an unintended mistake.

The Hsiung Feng III, which was developed by MND’s Chung Shan International Institute of Science and Technology, has only been shown in a public forum twice before, says an official from the institute speaking to Aviation Week on the sidelines of the show.

The missile is designed to penetrate an aircraft carrier and explode inside to cause maximum damage. The institute claims it only takes one or two of these missiles to sink an aircraft carrier.

Taiwan unveiled the missile to the general public the same day that China’s first aircraft carrier, the once-Soviet Varyag, set sale Aug. 10.

Taiwan’s defenses are focused on the island’s west coast, facing the Taiwan Strait and China, but the concern is that an aircraft carrier could be used to attack Taiwan’s east coast.

And Russia will say no. Brahmos is more of a Russian missile anyway. There is no way that India can develop such a missile by itself.

Nirbhay (Sanskrit: निर्भय, Nirbhay "Dauntless/Fearless") is a long range, subsonic cruise missile[1] being developed in India. The missile will have a range of 1,000 km and will arm three services, the Indian Army, Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.[2] The Nirbhay will be able to be launched from multiple platforms on land, sea and air. The missile is being developed by the Advanced Systems Laboratory, a division of DRDO and after finalizing the design, the technology required for the missile is being developed. The first test flight of the missile is expected in the year 2012.[3] Nirbhay will be a terrain hugging, stealthy missile[4] capable of delivering 24 different types of warheads depending on mission requirements and will use an inertial navigation system for guidance.[5] Nirbhay will supplement Brahmos in the sense that it would enable delivery of warheads farther than the 300 km range of Brahmos.

The Shaurya missile (Sanskrit: Valour) is a canister launched Hypersonic surface-to-surface tactical missile developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for use by the Indian Armed Forces. It has a range of between 750 to 1900 km [2] and is capable of carrying a payload of one ton conventional or nuclear warhead.[4] It gives the potential to strike in the short-intermediate range against any adversary.[5] The Shaurya missile provides India with a significant second strike capability

I'm talking about Brahmos, which is inducted. You are talking about other programs under development. As we all know, stuff under development in India means that it would take a while, a long while, before its ready. So don't hold your breath.

There is no way that India can develop such a missile by itself.

This Statements Talks Nothing on Induction.

If China is Developing a Carrier It Means It CAN Develop it .. regardless of the fact that its yet Inducted or NOT.
You Talked of "Capability" ... i Just Disproved It.

Besides, Shaurya has several Successful Tests, Its a Success we have Fully Developed and Tested It.

As for as i know, Taiwan is also a part of China. Then why they are getting weapons from US(in the past) and now they are planning this one.

Can anyone explain?

Don't boast yourself too much Mr bravo, who can guarantee that missile above is made by 100% Indian domestic technologies but not a mixed version with Russian or non-India ones!?

The Same Applies for Any Nation Except Nazi Germany !!!!!
