বুধবার বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে আওয়ামী লীগের আলোচনা সভায় খেলার প্রসঙ্গ ধরে শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, “আমরা তো জিতেই গিয়েছিলাম। মাত্র দুটি রান। পাকিস্তানপ্রেমী যিনি, আইএসআইয়ের টাকা খায়। না গেলেই .. ”

আওয়ামী লীগ প্রধান বক্তব্যে বিরোধী নেতার নাম উচ্চারণ না করলেও গত ১৪ মার্চ বঙ্গবন্ধু এভিনিউর জনসভায় খালেদা জিয়াকে পাকিস্তানের স্বার্থরক্ষাকারী বলে দাবি করে তাকে পাকিস্তানে পাড়ি জমানোর পরামর্শ দেন।

সেদিন খালেদার উদ্দেশ্যে হাসিনা বলেন, “পাকিস্তানের কাছ থেকে টাকা খেয়েছেন; ’৯১ এ খেয়েছেন, এখনো খাচ্ছেন। সেখানেই চলে যান। বাংলার মাটিকে কলুষিত করবেন না।”

গত বৃহস্পতিবার এশিয়া কাপের ফাইনাল খেলা স্টেডিয়ামে গিয়ে দেখেছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। সেদিন বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়াও স্টেডিয়ামে গিয়ে খেলা দেখেন।

শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, “জীবনে মাঠে যায় না। সে দিনই ক্রিকেটপ্রেমী হয়ে গেল। মাঠে ঘাটে সকলে এই কথাই বলে।”

টুর্নামেন্টে আগে বাংলাদেশ-শ্রীলঙ্কার খেলাও মাঠে বসে দেখেছিলেন শেখ হাসিনা। তবে এই টুর্নামেন্টে ফাইনাল দেখতেই প্রথম মাঠে গিয়েছিলেন খালেদা জিয়া।

শেখ হাসিনা ও খালেদা জিয়া পাশাপাশি ফাইনাল খেলার দর্শক ছিলেন রাষ্ট্রপতি জিল্লুর রহমানও। তিনিও টুর্নামেন্টে শুধু ফাইনাল খেলা মাঠে গিয়ে দেখেছিলেন।
