Not just companies, but all universities with engineering departments should be invited. Without discrimination.

Turkey Begins To Use UAVs for Forest Fires

“For the first time, we will use UAVs to detect forest fires in this year” said Minister Pakdemirli.

In a written statement, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry announced 3 fundamental strategies for fire fighting, stating “First strategy is prevention, namely providing fire prevention trainings to raise awaraness. We shall remember that of all, 88% of the forest fires are human-induced ve to reduce this ratio, we must ensure training, awareness and attention.”

Way to go! Hopefully some day soon we'll also see heavy-lift UAVs capable of carrying water/chemicals and putting out the fire.

I'm thinking about fire retardend bombs to stop the fires from the start. Or satelites using AI to detect fires in the early stages, but that's probably sci-fi as of now.

We don't have much satellite for that job, also satellites can not transport image simultaneously, that's why UAVs are the best option for aerial intelligence. Especially ANKA can be useful for long term, wide-area observation purposes.

@what I remember interview with the team which was managing Rasat, I might remember this incorrectly But I distinctly remember 2 thing from it. They were dumping files to their web page So anybody can use it. And Secondly, They were trying work with Fire departments just like you said. I guess It isn't Science fiction.

Indonesia use satellite to detect hot spot on the forest so that any possible fire potency can be eliminated before it burn the forest. Even we have the apps as well so that firefighters can easily know if the hot spot area are in their job coverage area.

How many observation satellites in operation at Indonesia?

We made two micro satellite that have earth observing capability which are LAPAN A1 and LAPAN A3. LAPAN (Indonesia Space Agency) also has cooperation with US and other countries to provide data and image from their satellites.

Turkey founds second maintenance center for A400Ms

A Turkish military airbase in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri has launched the second maintenance center for Airbus A400M tactical transport planes, according to an official.

“Up to day nine of the aircraft have been added to our inventory. The 10th plane is planned to be added to the inventory in 2022. Not only the procurement process of these nine planes, but also the maintenance and sustainment works are also carried out by the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate,” Lt. İsmail Barış Sağlam, an A400M Retrotif Project officer, told local media on May 19.

For the first time, heavy maintenance of the massive plane, which has a ticket price of 100 million euros, was done in a place other than the producer Airbus’ facilities, according to Sağlam.

“Both the maintenance time and economic cost have decreased after gaining A440M planes maintenance capability by the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate,” he added.

The A400M troop and cargo plane was developed for seven European NATO nations - Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain and Turkey - at a cost of 20 billion euros ($22 billion). It entered service in 2013 after a delay of more than three years.

Turkey is a 5.5 percent shareholder in the A400M program, with Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) supplying fuselage and wing parts for the plane to Bremen, Germany and Filton, England for integration before final assembly in Seville, Spain.

Sağlam said that they were also planning to implement design adjustments in accordance with feedback from users.
“It will be only us carrying out this application, called retrotif, other than Airbus,” he said, adding that those works will begin at the end of this year.

Turkey uses some of the EU satellites in cooperation, for agriculture (apart from weather forecasting) there has been construction of TARBIL, an extensive facility for agriculture tracking. I am not sure with the current progress but it should have been in service last year, there hasn't been any news regarding to that.
Probably we don't have any issues with detecting fires but extinguishing it. The deal with Russians hasn't been sealed and we rely on a few helicopters of an inexperienced company at the moment and they have failed in helping Cyprus.
Government should put politics aside and cooperate with THK or set up a proper fleet within ministry.
