Thanks for the info. Nice clear layout now visible.^^

There is a lot of controversy on the export naming for YJ-83. I read in a pretty respectable article that C-803 does not exist, there is only C802A. And the Chinese firms are already designing successor to C-802A/803 as well.

If the nose cone is pointy then it is all the way supersonic. If it is blunt like YJ-82/C802 then it is terminal stage supersonic only.

BTW tomar jonno khushir khobor aachhey. Bangladeshey Facebook khuley deya hoyechhey. :-)

These are the two C13B corvettes of the first batch. Second batch of two already started in Wuchang Shipyard (keel laid as of mid 2015). Hulls for further batches will be built locally with Chinese ToT (design supervision).

BTW weapons and sensor suite are quite different from standard 056 class. Observe the rectangular chiclets on the front of the structure ahead of the chimney :-). Could be western sensors (possibly RACAL). I'll do a little digging....

The analog of domestic YJ-83 is the C802A and not the C803 as widely reported in the blogosphere.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Export Designation: C802A

IOC: 1998

Length: 6.4 m

Weight: 800 kg

Maximum Range: 180 km

Speed: Mach 0.80-0.90

Cruise Altitude: 20 m

Terminal Altitude: 5m or 7m
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are conflicting reports on speed. Some say that the missile is supersonic in the terminal stage (which is an ideal trajectory design for this day and age and to defeat missile defenses). This missile has been often compared to the Harpoon Block 1C.

I'd say that for the size - these corvettes pack some serious punch.
yes C802 A is a good platform

Corvettes are inherently anti sub platforms. Question shouldn't be which AshM they carry but wether they carry any AShM .

nothing says corvettes are "inherently" asw ships. even the 056 in chinese service comes in several variants, some more dedicated to asw(with towed arrays and such) and some more likely for standard patrol/light surface action

Hey bro, the reporter started to explain the weapons system at 3 min mark. Could you please translate it?

76mm main gun, fully automatic with accurate land and sea-surface targeting capabilities

two 30mm secondary cannons, 4 asm missiles, 8 aa missiles, fulfilling anti ship, anti-air duties

these capabilities can threaten any modern naval force

-introduces the fl-3000 aa missiles

through various sensors it can scan, track and target many(no specific number) targets and together with gun systems it(the ship) can simultaneously engage many(again no specific number) air targets

then its goes on to talk about speed, how its stable at speed, how they spent 20 years researching.

note: that lady at the end totally sounds like a robot, like she memorized what she was gonna say lol

Thanks bro.

Any specifics info regarding the ASM missiles? Like is it c802 or c803?

Why does bd need these offensive corvettes?

They are all of every country in neighborhood.
India could have sold them baracuda type corvette for same price

BD is an independent nation, and an independent nation needs to secure its maritime boundary. Armed ships are basically a deterrence against would be invaders or aggressors. For example in 2008 when burma was in surveying for oil in disputed territory with armed ships, bangladesh sent its missile corvettes to confront it and got the burmese vessels to back off. We wouldnt have gotten the same with unarmed ships. Incidents like those are rare but we have to be prepared if it happens

Secondly, we want to protect our trade routes. It is the second most important reason why navies exist. Long range patrol, ensure that other countries, groups or organisations dont physically interfere, etc. Why do countries like china, us has large fleets? It is because they want to protect there trade routes.
