There was once the comment from an Indian Navy personnel about India's plan to build the 100,000+ tons nuclear supercarrier, but he replied that India can't even build a 100,000 tons civilian ship right now, so learn how to build a 100,000 tons civilian ship before talking about building a 100,000 tons CVN.

Now, even China's second class shipyard can build a 300,000 tons oil tanker with ease, then imagine the capability of the first class shipyard.

Anyway, China is now perhaps the closest nation to build a 100,000 tons CVN after US.

I still think there is a gap between building tankers and carriers but you're right, China is well positioned to take advantage of its civilian ship building sector (which btw recently overtook the dominant South Koreans in the field :) )

Building the civilian ship is like the math in the high school. And building the CVN is like the math in the university.

However, you have to be good at the math of the high school first before doing the math of the university. :coffee:

Some said this guy is gonna have the radar set up south down Shanghai and be deployed at about July and be part of the good-bye party for the General Secretary Hu.
