I would rank India best in both ODI and TEST currently..not going by any ranking, but even the recent stats show that..england might be very close, but india is still ahead of it clealry.T20 mightbe the only format where Indian needs to better, however thay havent played much of T20s recently to evaluate it.

well S/A was out of the nick during Pakistan or perhaps we played too good that we managed to draw the series

I think a series between England & India is compulsory to draw the right conclusion :agree:

there is huge diff. b/w pitches in S.A & low dead pitches of UAE.:azn:

defently not australia our cricket is in tatters ,enjoy it why you can;)

idk to much bout the other teams against each other , but probaly india.

The last time India England played,we won test series 1-0 and ODI series 5-0 .
Before that we beat them in the test series in England in 2007.
So India's record is currently way better than England!!

Majority of users on defence.pk are Indians, so the result is inevitable  India is the best team in the world right now :smokin:

But Pakistan is not such a minority to get 2 votes against 19.
:smokin:
You know whose the best team atm.
And its good you acknowledged it.

India - Best ODI Team & Test team in Indian subcontinent
England - Best Test team outside subcontinent
Pakistan - Most Unpredictable team. Can upset any team anytime atleast in the subcontinent.

Lol.. i was just pointing out the obvious result .... any way Be Happy man.

India is the best cricket team in the world now a days

Don't know if India is the best ODI team or not but India is undoubtedly the best test team in recent time. We didn't lost our last nine test series and out of which we have won seven where all seven were white wash.

In last 24 test matches....

Won 13
Lost 2
Drawn 9

For me - in Tests... Nothing comes closer to England

This is the ICC point table..... Both second and third positions are way behind India.

1 India 38 4893 129
2 South Africa 32 3712 116
3 England 39 4355 112
4 Australia 37 4061 110
5 Sri Lanka 27 2951 10

In last two test series against England we won both.

Oh well did you see England's test performance in 2010?
check the stats again.... they were somewhat very close to India with a slight edge frankly speaking.

They managed to score 500+ runs for 5 times in 2010 and we all know 500 runs is a psychological barrier for any team. India managed to achieve this target for 4 times and their win/loss ratio was also equal to England

But the big difference lies in the places/grounds where England and India played. England had to fight on the difficult grounds of England and Australia whereas India was on the batting haven of Indian and Sri Lankan pitches so I give a slight advantage to England for some of the reasons I mentioned above

If you only mean by the ICC World T-2O then surely Australia is World Champion of ODIs as they won the last World Cup...

No actually I meant overall performance... there has been some mishaps in the team during past 5-6 matches so the winning ratio has gone bit lower but overall we are still topping the charts with 3/4 win ratio... far better than other teams

Indirectly you are saying Indian batsmen are flat track bullies, Sachin/David/Sehwag/Laxman have 50+ away from home average. They have better away record than home.

Indian pitches in 2000s have produced results, which Australian pitches are failed to do. Brisbane Gabba pitch was Sher Shah Suri Road. Dont you hate Australian pitches. Where else in the world would you get a pitch that sees a team 507/1 having batted on days 4 and 5?

Have you checked Hussey and Hayden's home record? So called legends. They are bullies at home, failure at away games.

Besides the best thing about tests is the diversity of conditions in different countries. You need to sit through a flat track match to really appreciate a green top.

Imran, Murali, Wasim, Waqar & Shoaib and recently Zaheer Khan were able to run through batting line ups on flat pitches so then the fault lies with touring team bowlers not the pitches.

Why Pakistan have been collapsing even on roads.

Why pretty white boys are not scoring heavily on so called batting paradise? Check Ricky Ponting's record.

We have beaten Australia, they won toss, they batted first, then scored 400+ in first innings of both tests. Yet they lost, Reason was differance in bowling line up experience. Criticizing a pitch for being flat is understandable but for being spin friendly? Come on! Shane Warne is once in generation cricketer and they missed genuine spinner.

Spin pitches on 4th and 5th days - We need them as much as we need seaming tracks on the first day. Its not India's fault if Warney retired, if Pak is not producing world class spinners.

Plus there's the reverse swing factor. Not too many quicks around the world right now are good enough to use it as a lethal weapon. If bowlers are not good enough to bowl reverse swing, It's their team's fault not the Indian teams. Currently, We have a bowler who is pretty darn awesome at using reverse swing and we have no reason to make pitches more seam-friendly. Why will we do something that works to our disadvantage? You go to South Africa they make pitches to their advantage, thats beauty of test cricket, differant conditions.

You don't see any posters complaining when Australian/South African wickets don't turn.

What you said is true for Inzimam-ul-haq, he averages in 30s in Australia-South Africa-England. You cant say same about Indian batting order.

The lack of criticism for other pitches outside the subcontinent in recent years, which are also flat, is annoying.

Australia's top batsmen fit the "home track bully" stereotype far easier than a lot of subcontinental bastmen.

Mathew Hayden
Home: 5210 runs@ 58
Away: 3415 runs @ 43

Michael Hussey
Home: 2576 @ 66
Away: 1699 @ 39

Mahela Jayawardena
Home: 6070 runs@ 64
Away: 3457 runs @ 42

^ They are Flat track Home advantage bullies, Indians have better away record than home.

Take for Example India Vs. Australia contests in 2000s.

Aussie batsman in the 2000s scored @ 44.26 in Australia and 30.71 in India.
Indian batsmen in the 2000s scored @ 35.25 in Australia and 32.25 in India.

So it seems that players from both teams have batted better in Aussie conditions.

Take for Example India Vs. England contests in 2000s.

Indian batsmen in England scored @39.27 and 33.71 in India
English Batsmen in England scored @36.6 and 29.87 in India

Again Both teams scored at a better rate in England.

Beating Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka having Mendis, Murali, Malinga (Top class bowling attack) is no easy task mate, Sehwag murdered them!

Isnt its amazing, 22yr Virat Kohli who averages 50+ in ODIs (with 4 centuries, 1000 runs in just 26 matches), better record than Hashim Amla in ODIs, doesnt have certain place in proper India world cup team, we already have set 6 genuine batsmen plus one all rounder spot (Pathan or Ashwin will play). See our bench strength. LOL now our no.8 bat has 2 test centuries to his name.

These folks barring injuries will play in all games -
Sachin
Sehwag
Gambhir
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Raina
Pathan/Ashwin (Supposed All-rounder)
Harbhajan
P Kumar
Zaheer
Nehra
