Chinese products aren't as bad as people make them out to be. It all depends upon the company whose products a consumer ends up purchasing. China produces a range of products going all the way from cheap & low quality to expensive & high quality. International brands with factories in China tend to produce high quality & expensive products, even many indigenous Chinese companies produce high quality products. It's usually in cases of commercial fraud or counterfeiting where the low quality variants end up.

One could argue that to an extent it's the importers' fault as well. I remember reading an article stating that some Saudi importers intentionally imported cheaper products from China due to the reduced costs involved. Unfortunately, I can't find that article online. In any case that was one of the reasons similar Chinese products in the USA tended to last longer than their variants in Saudi Arabia.

As for this mobile, I haven't come across this particular brand previously. Perhaps it may not have entered the Arabian markets yet. This company would naturally have to produce phones that are durable & of good quality. Assuming of course that this particular company intends to compete with giants like Apple, Samsung, & HTC. I feel sorry for Nokia & RIM, they are the architects of their own destruction.

That's the thing. Pretty much all the manufactured products in this world have something to do with China.

So if you buy high-end electronics like expensive smartphones and laptops, there will be Chinese components in them (and many will be made in China entirely).

And if you buy cheap crap and it breaks, that will also have components made in China. Basically, you get what you pay for.

I already know that the quality of the product depends upon the company that produces it. The location usually tends to have nothing to do with quality whatsoever.

In the past Chinese brands did have quality control issues, but that is gradually changing. Consumers generally feel safe buying most Chinese products these days. Chinese cars for instance have recently entered the Saudi market, they aren't extremely popular, but they aren't neglected either.

China Mengniu Dairy Co (2319) yesterday strongly denied reports that cow urine was added to its milk products.
"It is impossible for dairy farmers to add cow urine to the milk as the entire process [of pasteurizing] our milk is done in sealed machinery," the country's largest dairy producer by market value said in its microblog.

It also posted pictures and graphs to show its dairy production process.

Last week, a consumer claimed that some dairy farmers in Hebei province had injected "large amounts of cow urine" into the milk before selling it to Mengniu in order to make more profit.

"All milk produced on the mainland has to pass two examinations after arriving at factories," Song Kungang, chairman of the China Dairy Industry Association, was quoted as saying.

"Workers taste the milk and we use machines to check the ingredients," he said.

Mengniu has figured in a spate of scandals in the past few months, including alleged high levels of aflatoxin in its milk which can lead to liver cancer.

The scandal caused a reshuffle in Mengniu's top management.

Sun Yiping, former deputy general manager of COFCO Property (Group) Co, replaced Yang Wenjun as chief executive and executive director in April.

Mengniu rebounded 2.17 percent last Friday to HK$21.15 after slumping 7.16 percent to HK$20.70 on Thursday. NATALLIE CAI

- Cow Urine <= Well, at least this is a natural ingredient, right?

And milk is then added to thousands of other food items, everything from icecream to bread and noodles.
