You are a peace loving nation right!!!
Why do you want to rataliate for whatever India does???

No offence meant, when this missile is not targetted towards Pakistan, why do you want to come up with an answer?

Pakistan testing an ICBM would have nothing to do with India just as our test has nothing to do with Pakistan.

For starters, they would like to have the capability of hitting Israel. Accurately.

Taimur is 7000km, full on ICBM.

India won't go beyond 5000?

possibly not. India will stop at 5000 and work on refining technology. Next stage will be transform it into MIRV.
, adding more muscles, better navigation, creating quasi ballistic system. Making carrier killer and ASAT out of it.

What is the meaning of these names?

Shaheen.

Ghauri.

Taimur.

All are names. Ghauri is some Afghan King that defeated Prithvi Raj hence there is a under handed meaning that the Ghauri missile beats Indian Prithvi missile.

Shaheen means Eagle, some Allama Iqbal reference "Tu shaheen hai ..."

I don't know which Taimur is this in reference to.

This is 1950s technology which doesn't need actual testing and can be done on scale models and computer simulations.
India wanted to make a statement against china and tested an ICBM...
Pakistan doesn't need to do this, but that doesn't men Pakistan cant have ICBM...

Although I am not a grandparent yet, please allow me to tell you a story as an elder brother at least:

==================================================

Once there was a young wolf who wanted to be the leader of the pack but was simply not big enough to challenge the current leader. So he decided to go and meet with the lion to learn something useful which could help him do that. The lion agreed to take him on the next hunt to teach him new skills.

So both the lion and the young wolf crept up to a deer in the bush. The lion asked the wolf,"Is my tail erect?" The wolf said, "Yes, Sir!". The lion asked," Are my eyes red?" "Yes". The lion asked "Are my ears up?", "Yes" came the reply. The lion said, "Now I am ready!" and with a mighty leap sprang upon the deer and captured him.

After learning this useful lesson, the young wolf went back to his pack and gathered them all around him and said, "I have come to be your leader, because I have been taught by the lion himself. Follow me and you will never want for fresh meat!" The wise leader of the pack said, "Well, that is good. Why don't you demonstrate your skills, and if you can hunt as well as you say you do, then I will step aside gladly."

The young wolf boasted, "Show me the animal to be hunted!" and the leader pointed out a water buffalo in the the savannah. Upon seeing the mighty animal he was supposed to bring down, the young wolf's heart leapt into his throat, but he had the whole tribe looking on, so he trembingly stalked the water buffalo, and then jumped upon it.

Of course, the buffalo gave him one mighty kick, flinging the poor wolf far into the bush, bruised and broken. All the pack laughed at him and went away, except a few friends, who came to look after their friend. One asked him, "Whay happened? I thought you were trained by the best!". The young wolf meekly said, "I would have killed the buffalo, except that my tail was not erect, my eyes were not red, and my ears were not up."

============================================

First moral of the story: First, get ready.
Second moral of the story: Even after you get ready, don't be over ambitious.

I'm not advocating firing the ICBM on the water buffalo. Just firing it into a nice open empty space.

Because Pakistan doesn't have the know how and technology and money to do such a thing.

The AGNI 5 launch costed around $300m, do you think Pakistan with a £200billion economy could afford such a thing?

Dear Richi Rich Indian - Thanks for stopping by

@Topic - We don't have any excuse to test ICBM as our only official enemy is already within our range.

"It's the economy, stupid!"

(no offence intended, famous old slogan quoted)

China has a far bigger economy but the West sanctions it. The reason is alignment of American and Indian geopolitical goals.

Why do you guys want to follow India in everything ?

It's not a question of following but using India's test as a cover. Everyone knows we are adversaries so it's normal that Pakistan should reply to India tit-for-tat.

Sad. You guys should name your missiles better.

Shaheen is nice. Ghauri (turk) and Taimur (mongol) simply says that you need outside help.

Pakistani nation is a mix of various other cultures.

That way, you may criticize American missiles. Sometimes they call a WMD the peacemaker and sometimes the Titan. It's all good, just a show of bravado. Nothing to be taken too seriously.

That's lame man. We want to see missiles fly!! At least in test mode.

Well, its your country's money, you are free to do whatever you want to do.

But when Ghauri and Shaheen can do the job, why go after Taimur ?
