Chinese slum = Indian middle class.

Do Indian slums have access to electricity and toilets? How large are Indian homes?

India has not even caught up to China's electrification 30 years ago.

Average Indian lives worse than US prisoners?!

Why are crying about this to me? I didn't author that report

Go whine to UN for publishing that report :D

Please add the fact you are a Chinese poster on pdf with those credentials I am sure they will take your opinion seriously rather than asking security to escort you out

US made the coronavirUS in US labs, yet India is never going to blame Indian masters in USA.
If the founding father of modern India, Nehru decided to sell 10 million Indian women to USA for unspeakable purposes-

What can be expected future generation of Indian leaders

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree :enjoy:

the report was written by an Indian individual Sharad Shankardass which is a Hindi Indian last name.

the report was written in 2006.

the definition of slum was never given.

He is correct. Many estimates indicate India has has 70 million or more peoples infected. Assuming 2% or 3% fatality rate...that puts India's true death toll in the millions.

Big problem with that theory is where are the mass of bodies lying all over India?
It would be impossible to hide.

Also, the Indian population is generally young and slim and so will have a lot of natural immunity to getting seriously sick from the virus.

1-3 million extra deaths in a country with India's population occurring in geographically distributed fashion over a few months wont lead to piles of bodies on the street. 2-3% fatality rate is reasonable and a low assumption based on known scientific characteristics of the virus. On top of that you have to factor the people that are dying due to hunger or committing suicide as a result of unemployment and high debt from the pandemic associated economic hardships. Millions in India will die directly and indirectly from this pandemic. Official numbers are garbage. Trump has access to intel that normal folks don't.

Dude - 2-3% is not the fatality rate of the disease.

CDC puts current fatality rate at 0.3%, coming down from 0.6% when not much was known about the disease 6 months ago. That is in developed Western countries with old and overweight populations that are known to be at higher risk from dying of Covid-19.

India's young and healthy population would shrug off the worst effects of the virus and so we can maybe assume 0.1% or less. We know that as long as you are young(less than 60) and no underlying health conditions like diabetes the virus is no more harmful than the flu.

2 million extra deaths on top of other deaths in the space of 6 months would be noticeable even in a country the size of India. Bodies would be lying all over the streets in the cities like what happened in countries like Ecuador.

0.1% fatality rate??? Normal influenzas have a higher fatality rate. Why would any country lock down if the fatality rate was only .1% - .3%.

Dude, I think you need to do a bit more research.

Normal influenza is not contagious as Covid-19 and there are vaccines against it. It has a R number of 1.8 whereas Covid-19 is 3 if left unchecked.

We know that people in countries like Pakistan, BD and India have low fatality rates as they have young and slim populations.

In the UK the average age of death is 83 and those mainly have other conditions like diabetes.

It looks like you just wanted to jump on the bash India bandwagon and your views are being shaped around this and not doing the required research about the virus.

PS - Influenza fatality rate is thought to be 0.05-0.1% in the US. It will be lower in S Asia due to younger population.

Age is factor but you can not ignore that many deaths are not recorded as a result of covid-19. I've done plenty of research. Most deaths in India are not medically reported. Deaths in many countries are noticeable higher then the same period last year.

Based on India's official number of infections and deaths....death rate is 1.6%. A little higher than .1%.

Again dude, you are not doing enough research and are thinking at a too superficial level.

Yes deaths are higher than the 100,000 recorded but the cases would be far higher still.

Like I say all evidence like lack of bodies on streets, India's young and slim population and even the warm climate points to one of the lowest fatality rates in the world.

First hand reports from ambulance drivers in India. Listen around 1:00 both vids. Man choke up when he thinks of how many bodies he dealt with. Reporter mentions that bodies are piling up.

older report but states the mortuaries are filling up and dealing dead bodies has surged.
