What's new

Caste system still exits in India today?

Caste system is still there but it is not like all indians fall under some specific caste, there are regional castes, state wise castes.

But honestly these days the biggest divider is education, money, knowledge and customs rather than caste.

Dear all from India:
Please talk about the caste sytem influence in India nowadays.

the most evil practice...actually not really evil...its basically the society divided to luk after development of all...as in like...one section will luk after one thing other after another thing...

bt human nature....they have made it evil...for example...the worker class (dalits and shudars etc) have been given highest honours and all...and all other castes are meant to take care of them....bt some faggots fooled people that they are low class and blah blah...and here we are...caste system...instead of improving stuff..it has backfired...a big mistake i must say...

You are at the right forum to discuss it, before any one spew venom in your head let me give you the truth

Ancient India (Before Islam or cristianity founded), Indian scholar divided society in 4 part
1. Ruler and soldier : Kshatriya
2. Teacher : Beahmina
3. Businessman : Vaishya
4. worker and farmers. : karmik

ppl were free to move from one section to another, we have many such example where Karmik ppl become kshatriya. Later who got the power (Elite class) wanted to retain the power. So they divided the country based on caste system. But still for 1000s of year ppl were easily moved from one class to another. Inter caste marriage was not sin.

Then came the Mughal period, Hindus were marginalized , there books were burnt by invaders (It is said that Nalanda burnt for 6 months, imagine the book it would have had). There knowledge was crippled. illiteracy brought ill practices. Then came the brits, under brits influence many hindu got a chance to get them educate again.

they learnt there history and felt that Hinduism is deviating from Path. They tried to abolish castism and many other ill practices. There work paid and by 1947 we started working for eradication of ill practices.

Post independence we worked hard and in 2011 we are about to end the castism. Castism is dead in Metros, Tier 2 and 3 cities and modern village. Its there at low level in small villages.

Next 50 years are promising for india, looking at the speed at which Castism died in last 50 years, I can easily assume that after 50 years castism will completely die.

Thanks. And considering that the evils of caste system existed for last 700 years before independence, it is rational to consider that it will be eradicated completely within say 40-50 years entirely :)

It stemmed from illiteracy and blind faiths etc which is completely solvable provided more and more people start getting educated. And it is entirely different from religious sectarian practices which exist in many middle-eastern countries etc.

Who could tell me the difference between Hinduism and Buddhism. Both two religious originated from India.

no offend, just being curious.
