Bangladesh seeks India`s help to set up nuclear reactor

What type of reactor they would be Thorium based that are safe and can also utilize the deadly Diplated Uranium which is cheap too. I hope that GoP is soon going to release the AQ Khan and gave them the money to open up facilities in North Western Sindh as well as in Balochistan for further research as well for the development of Thorium reactors on war footings in order to add 11000 MW of electricity by 2020.

Well, I'm afraid, my friend, pakistan hasn't achieved even the supposed first step in nuclear reactor engineering...i.e designing and manufacturing PWR for commercial production of electricity (NOT the plutonium experimental reactor), let alone the highly sophisticated fast breeder reactor, using thorium

Though pakistan has the option of importing chinese 300 mw class reactors ,
The future lies in thorium based fast breeder reactors...
Bro, it takes a lotta experience in designing and commissioning of indigenous reactors, and the development and r & d costs are freaking high...
At first, all the reactor parameters are simulated in a super computer, to check the validity of the design
Then a small prototype is constructed to check the parameters in real time to gather the data
Then only, the full scale reactor is constructed

Indian media routinely rolls out such "bakwas" / bogus news obviously to confuse/demoralize us. Why should BD ask for a technology from India which the latter herself needs to obtain from actually developed nations? Nope, we are setting this up with Russian assistance with inputs from China.

With due respect, no body is demoralising BD, secondly, why don't you better delve into india's nuclear reactor engineering reports?
It is not advisable to remain in darkness and ignorance
India is infact a leader in fast breeder reactor technology

The other point is BD never buys or gets any defense related material or sensitive item from India. Even Awami League govt won't. Because we have always held India in suspicion about her intentions here. On all analysis done by us - from the man in the street to a strategist, India emerges as the top potential threat to our sovereignty. That is the truth. That is why you will notice a pronounced anti-Indian tone in all BD posters in any Forum.

civilian nuclear reactors under the safe guards of IAEA intended for commercial production of electricity DOES NOT come under military items!!
and well,i dont deny the sentiments, they are well found at their place, but i was talking in terms of technical capabilities of india and the export potential of india 700mw PHWR or the 550mw FBR

@asad...here is the state of FBR in india--
india became the 6th nation on this planet to indigenously design and develeop FTBR(40mwt) on october 1985.since then the indian FBR project has advanced to that level that, india recently created an agency to patent the technological rights and to commercialize the indian FBR ..and soon, the enlarged versions of FBR will follow(at present india has constructed only 550mw FBR,though plans are in place to stretch it to 1000mw level)

time to educate yourself about india's nuclear energy plans..though this is 3 year old article, back then india had about 17-18reactors,and 700mw PHWR was on testing phase, but now(as of 2012) four, 700mw indigenous PHWRs are under construction, two of them at kakkarpara(gujrat) and two of them at rawatbhata, and the construction work on NEXT 4 is scheduled to start very soon,so india envisions to install eight such indigenious 700mw PWRs,in very near future
The Energy Business – India Energy News, Nuclear Energy News, Renewable Energy News, Oil & Gas Sector News, Power Sector News » NPCIL begins construction on 700 Mw PHWR plant in Gujarat
here it is also to be noted that india was under strict sanctions from 1974 onwards,so there was NO "transfer of technology" from developed nations in this regards, india as of now has achieved mastery in the design and comissioning of small and medium sized reactors, infact india can very well provide small and medium class reactors for various third world at a much affordable rate

sad..

I think BD has requested this reactor from Russia and I think they should go for 5 of the 325 MW reactors out of which four of these could remain operational and when the routine maintenance of the first one will come then the fifth one could become operational. This is the way followed with power plants.
