Russians Discuss Future Aircraft Carrier Plans, Eyeing India

thanks for the offer.
But no thanks.
in the least navy may just like to take design blueprints from russians but nothing more than that

Fanboy article...clue is Russia can never sell a nuclear powered vessel as it is a signatory of NPT.

Russia using India as its ATM?Again?:yahoo:

Hmm carriers with onboard ASAT systems, good idea. Killing satellites = killing DF-21D's chances of
hitting a carrier ship, Im sure USA already is inducting them secretly...;)

They just can't sell us a nuclear propulsion, but show us how to develop an own one to fit it into the carrier. The sale or JV can be on the development ond construction of the carrier on the other hand, with certain parts for all carrier beeing produced in Russia or India. The main point of the offer is, please join our development with sufficiant fundings, to give our forces arms and techs that otherwise might not come (Mig 29K for example).

Russia is in midst of reincarnation as counterbalance to USA.She has a very rich reserve of non-renewable energy source ,I mean she is again emerging as a power to reckon. India should take note of these facts and shouldn't ignore this proposition altogether. We may not be willing to snatch jobs from our people and provide jobs to russian workers but consultancy should be sought if it's so called future carrier.
We are not in a position to piss off Russia every now and then and in process give undue leverage to China to which it shares her border with .

In one side India is facing famine and on the verge of loosing a part of their population and livestock and in another side they are discussing aircraft carrier. Very sad.

Walk away...we know how to deal our problems. Don't mix up things....coz according to your logic you shouldn't buy weapons which you are, when your country is drowning due to Global Warming....

Stay on topic, not your old rants.

After the Vikramaditya fiasco and other program delays and cost overruns you should minimize your dealings with the Russians on anything defence-related.

Better keep building your own, they'll in all probability be delayed and vastly exceed their cost estimates as well but at least you'll be doing it indigenously.

Yes that is understood when we took consultations from them for our nuclear submarine programme. But the Russians already have enough expertise in the field of everything starting from design to operational experience. They also have the necessary amount required to build one (Have been to Russia and is no way a poor nation even in the early 2000). Why would they need our help? They can easily bring in someone like Brazil onboard if they seriously need cash.
