Release of Taliban detainees: Pakistan took money, claims ex-Afghan spymast

We are not talking about Jalaluddin haqqani, Gulbudeen Hekmetyaar, Ahmed rashid dostum, Ahmed shah massoud or abdul haq.
This w r t to Taliban emanating from saudi sponsored pakistani run Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam administered TALIBAN. Not the Mujhahideen. Big distinction. Please do your research!

And when this all was happening where was US, care to answer please? . This support for Taliban was backed by US too, you have to accept this fact. They wanted to create a central control in a war torn country.
They knew that after the war Taliban controls 80% of the country and if they come to power it will help get things stablize.

It is interesting to see how you mention all these names as Mujahahideen because one of the names is Haqqani's , which US wanted us to attack

I have done my research and think it is time for you to do yours
Journalist Ahmed Rashid, a long-time expert on Pakistan and Afghanistan, will later write in a book about the Taliban that the US supported the Taliban in its early years. “Between 1994 and 1996, the USA supported the Taliban politically through its allies Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, essentially because Washington viewed the Taliban as anti-Iranian, anti-Shia, and pro-Western. Between 1995 and 1997, US support was even more driven because of its backing for the Unocal [pipeline] project.” He notes that many US diplomats “saw them as messianic do-gooders—like born-again Christians from the American Bible Belt.” [DREYFUSS, 2005, PP. 326] Selig Harrison, a long-time regional expert with extensive CIA ties, will later say that he complained at the time about how Pakistani ISI support of the Taliban was backed by the CIA. “I warned them that we were creating a monster.” [TIMES OF INDIA, 3/7/2001] There is evidence the CIA may have helped supply the Taliban with weapons during the first months of their rise to power

Pakistanis are well known for this they never do anything for free and money is everything for them at least I am proud that we can now even feed some top brass Pakistani establishment for the release of Taliban :D

Next you'll say ISI encouraged your national bank to do what it was doing and blame Pakistan for Ahmed Wali Karzais dealings with drug lords.

You people are expert at deflecting attention away from yourselves. You are responsible for the affairs of your country not us.

But seriously the rascal Pakistani so called politicians are smacked and debunked by Saleh who you funnies hate the most.Lol

Your smashing, Saleh!

So, why did karzai give him the middle finger? :)

He's viciously hated by the Establishment, especially the Punjabis and a few Pashtuns on account of him being a Panjshiri and also because of his hate for the Taliban. The Establishment considers him the single greatest threat in the Afghan intelligentsia, and he has great support among Pashtuns who consider the Durand line "null and void" which is the greatest fear of the Pakistanis, even greater than the the threat of encirclement from India.

It seems almost majority of the Pakistani posters under this thread are just like this dumb comedian minister Shiekh Rashid. What the fk is this guys on about?

What is the relevance you are trying to draw, or you are implying what?

Nonsense! His militia slaughtered Pashtuns in huge numbers.

By the way, he was politely shown the door. He's powerless.

As for Durand Line, it's a non-issue. We've been working to counter the encirclement you snicker about. Hopefully our objectives are met. We simply won't allow Afghan soil to be used against Pakistan, whether you or a few misguided Afghans like it or not.

That you shouldn't lecture us about bribes or administrative corruption.

Please sir, such name-calling does not behoove a civilized person.

I do very much concur with you; Saleh's maturity and acumen appear unmatched. If he were an Indian politician/diplomat, he would go very far!

No one is going to entertain your India nonsense in Afghanistan and you will be politely made to understand to mind your business. I have not lectured you about bribes and administrative corruption, since we are in position to do so which is a way of life in there.

It is natural for heads of national intelligence agencies to be changed etc. Saleh is doing good for himself, after all he is a populist politician and an opinion leader on our relations with Pakistan. The issue of his ethnicity is irrelevant and I as a Pashtun will be the first to\ well wish and lend him my support. You are resorting to mere drivel just like those Pakistani panelists shamed and debunked by Saleh.Lol

As I said, we don't take him seriously nor do we care for him. As President, General (r) Musharraf gave him a fitting reply.

By the way his contract as NDS terminated prematurely. ;)

And as long as Afghan soil is used in nefarious purpose, as long as some misguided segments of your society make emotional ruckus about Durand Line (a nonissue which you can't change) and as long as 5 million of your citizens/refugees live for free and free to move around Pakistan (even illegally) then damn right what happens there is our business.

Hope you understand.

That is humbug, his militia has never commited atrocities on the Pashtuns, the other members of the NA especially the Junbish commanders under Dostum who are virulently anti-Taliban massacred them in the pro-Taliban strongholds. But Dostum reversed that trend and even succumbed to Karzai's position on reintegrating Pashtuns into the mainstream. The one stance that he has is of non-integrating pro-Taliban Pashtun populace in the ANA, which will also be slowly reverted. His non-negotiable stance against the Taliban and his intelligence failures failure led him to resign, he was not removed.

If you think about countering encirclement, you greatly underestimate the ANA and the local Aghan populace and overestimate the Hekmatyars and Omar's Taliban. This will backfire against the Pakistanis like Operation Gibraltar and Hamid Gul's Jalalabad debacle.

I apologize if I may have caused any offense. The Pakistani members do the same when it comes to our politicians etc.
