Did we get independence in 1971? Or is Bangladesh a colony of India?

In 1947, our forefathers enthusiastically supported Partition and we became eastern wing of Pakistan. Some of our leaders claimed that we were being discriminated against and exploited upon, and we need our separate country, with instigation from India and Soviet Union, both enemies of our people and still are biggest enemies of Muslims. These traitors were not eliminated in time and they became popular based on a great big lie and hoax and with Indian help instigated a civil war in 1971. Many innocent civilian died in the civil war.

For the last 43 years many of our people believed a lie that we have become independent in 1971. But based on our experience from overt and covert interference of India in our internal affairs, it has become crystal clear to all that we did not become independent in 1971. Rather we became a virtual colony of India. So Bangladesh can be called an Indo-Soviet project, which robbed of the future of the people of our land-mass. During brief rules of BNP, ruled by late Zia and Khaleda Zia, we made attempts to become independent, but every time we ended up in failure. So these can be called temporary phenomenons and not the real character and nature of this country called Bangladesh, which is essentially a colony of India, created to serve Indian interest and ruin the future of the people of its landmass.

Personally speaking, I think BD went from being East Pakistan to being an unofficial part of India. It's not a secret to anyone about how much influence India has in BD.

I'm glad you guys seeing it that way…. the plan to divide pakistan was made in the 60s years before the elections…
as a pakistani I'm happy that your saying this.
but as far as we are concerned your independent, you control your fate you just need to get rid of indian stooges..

hopefully without india…perhaps our government in pakistan should push our business people to invest more in bangladesh so we can get closer ties…

BD did attain a certain degree of independence at times but now it is too heavily under Indian influence.

I think we should not be too pessimistic as one of the major reasons for India having so much influence has been the general poverty and backwardness of BD.

Over time as BD becomes richer, general people become more educated and the influence of China grows then Indian interference can be eliminated.

The poor but large India only holds influence over a poor and weak small BD

Pakistani businessmen already did that, but Hasina and India is trying to kick them out. What we need is a combined effort led by Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan, to invest and partner with Bangladeshi businessman. Currently all top businessmen have sold out the country and came to understanding with Indians, so they can continue to make money and ship it off overseas. I will open a separate thread about these traitor business people.

I support you. Bangladesh and Pakistan should get closer. But you have to understand the feeling of BD people. There should be certain change of policy from your Gov. to do this job done.
