India may transfer some Migs to Srilanka: Source

Why are we all jumping here.. Let SLAF confirm it officially... I have said before and i am saying again.. SL navy will order 4-6 ships from India as its building a navy first. This blue water navy ambition has the blessings of USA and order from India implies India is backing it too. So SLAF practically has no free budget for next 4-5 years..

there is no blackmail, no arm twisting.. In 4-5 years SL AF may opt for JF17 or LCA or more Kfirs based on requirement, support and geo political relationships..

Till then we all are just trying to kill a potential customer with onslaught here in pdf...all people should have patience and see what and how it shapes out..

OT Mig 27 does help them tide over for 4-5 years surely so gift them at free of cost... This ensures SL navy requirements are met by our shipyards implying orders for export and growth for our shipping industry.

:coffee: Hope this will stop your melodrama Mr.Think Tank !

Yes - 5 SQDs of Prototypes.. :coffee:
Please go and update the status on Wikipedia before inducting a JF17 trainer jet and be a laughing stock.

Technically JF17 will remain a prototype until a Twin seat trainer is inducted.:p:

evil plan hehehe, offering such aircraft which lacks in dogfight (air to air combat). :D

LoL.... and JF is mother of all fighter.... and with whom SLAF is going to go for dog fight ???

any airforce should have such capability since airforce's basic roles are air to air combat and air to ground combat
soo.. you shuu..shuuu :D

No, they do not have any existential threat of aerial dog fighting. They should focus on CAS/Ground support and maritime support.

But why would they accept older aircraft when they have the option to get new ones?

Even without JF-17, they can go for the Korean KAI T-50s, which would do a wonderful job.

We seriously need to get Tejas into mass production for exports alongside IAF and IN's needs.

Diplomacy is at its high end... we give them millions of $ every year along with reconstructions. we don't want to see them go on others pocket certainly not to our rival. older aircraft is only a stop gap measure... most of the SLAF's fighters are older second handed ones

Someone should explain to you the meaning of S-P. The F-22 and F-35 do not have a dual seater yet so they are still prototypes. ;)

Your sources are wrong 4 out of 6 parameters are about to be completed by march.not sure about other 2.
i wud like to be proven wrong,,,but till now all the info frm the source has been correct
Already fueling probes are ordered, which only post 20 models will have. There would be no point in validating it with Tejas if more models are being ordered. FOC+ models are what IAF want any. No, confirmation for mark 2 either, but around 100 GE F414 engines are already ordered. Not all of which will go to naval variants. It wont end at 20 IOC models, that's for certain.
no,,as of now not certain.
Iaf wants FOC+ models,,,n dpsu's have gladly claimed tht they will come up wid it,,,but IAF has made it clear tht further orders will be taken into consideration only if they r satisfied wid FOC tejas.
