Excuse of north being border region doesn't make one bit of sense. Have any of you actually seen map? east punjab border Pakistan and last time I checked it was most prosperous state in India. Other state which border Pakistan is Gujarat and it's again one of richest states. Gujju baniya build Mumbai.

Now coming back to south indian success story. When I look at where Pakistan failed and India gained is sectors like IT and if I'm not wrong it's mainly thanks to south India. Pakistan for to long have been busy in proxy wars and ignored higher education till early 2000's. India being too big doesn't have same effects from Naga land insurgency or IoK. Literally speaking even unrest in IoK doesn't bother someone from Delhi.

IT is not a South Indian success story, it's an Indian success story. It's true that Bangalore is the main IT hub here but the industry is spread far and wide and has significant presence in at least all the major cities.

There is a difference in attitude toward Pakistan, and by proxy, to some extent toward Islam/Muslims in general too when comparing the Northern heartland to the Deccan regions because of historical reasons, the north bore the brunt of that brutal separation that both of our peoples are still not over completely.

The last of the generation who were politically conscious enough at the time are now dying out but they have managed to poison the first of the post independence generation and passed on some of the scars.

About I o K, people in the north care a lot more about that than down south for reasons I just explained. Conversely, down in Tamildestan, the zealots are more bothered about Lankan Tamils which most people up north are clueless about lol. Big country..

I don't keep up with your internal politics a lot but, probably the same in Pakistan with Sindh or Baloch people not so bothered about Pathan people and the Afghan refugee problem or something.. and Punjabis are kind of accused of stealing everything (that I do know goes on there)

The biggest post independence difference is not that Pak got busy in proxy wars, which it did, to it's own great detriment and from which it continues to suffer from (US/Saudis are partly to blame) but that on a societal level, we went for different things.

Pakistan needed a national identity, religion was it, and I suppose it did help to some extent social cohesion wise.

India was (still is) poor, but society saw education as the way out, we were not in such desperate need of an identity. "Hinduism", in some form or another, had been here for ten thousand years or something already, and that it's not a dogmatic and an ever changing set of ideas anyway.

A generation or two down the line, we'll probably have peace, hope no crazy leaders, or generals (in case of Pakistan lol),do anything too crazy till then.

Yes, just last week in fact. Bengaluru and Goa, and everyone I met spoke our glorious aryan rashtra bhasha and was very nice.

I am not belittliing the Bangladeshis .
But infilitration and pole vaulting created a lots of problem in India .

There are enough evidence where Indians from other states are harassed as illiegal immigrants in India. Moreover, there are millions of illegal Indians immigrating to Bangladesh in search of a better life, there are even designated slums for them. Yet, nobody here gives an excuse that development of Bangladesh is hampered by the illegal immigrants.

FYI Does anyone go from a relatively high income country to a low income country, while he can migrate to any other south Indian states (Which they are doing now) for a better economic benefit.
