What's new

Why dont India play China's own game. Give missiles and sophisticated arms to taiwan.

No Pakistanis think they are Indian.

But at least 40% Taiwan think they are Chinese.

Pakistani national security depends on Kashmir issue.

But Taiwanese national security depends on Re-unification or Independence.

There are two different things.

You're right.

The President of Taiwan was also born in Hong Kong, and he is pro-China.

The president of Taiwan is still requesting weapons from the US such as the F-16 fighters. he just want to ensure that China doesn't have a cake walk to overtake Taiwan and China has to work for it.

Because it is the only successful democracy from south asia that is the largest democracy of the world and is the only democracy in south asia that is becoming a major global power economically, strategically, and militarily and you know all these qualities are bound to create some jealousy among the failing nations or dictatorships.

Please shout up about India's democracy, you guys are really giving democracy a bad name. They actually use the system in India as a counter arguement to democracy in China.
Is India really a democracy?
Is India really a democracy?Arvind Kejriwal, 27 May 2010, 06:23 PM IST At the heart of all problems lies the politics of the country. We opted for democracy as our political system. But I have been wondering for quite some time - how democratic is Indian polity?

Indian polity has failed to provide solutions to the common man's problems. If a government teacher plays truant or does not teach properly, can the parents do anything about it? Or if a doctor in a government hospital does not treat properly or does not give medicines? What can a poor person do if the ration shop keeper openly siphons off rations? Or what can any one of us do if the policeman refuses to register my FIR or registers a false case against us?

We cannot do anything about it. We can only complain to higher authorities who do not act upon our complaints. So, the citizens do not have any control over government employees.

We also do not have any control over government funds. Sundernagari, a slum in East Delhi does not have a secondary school, water, sewer, etc. The people have been demanding these things for ages. But the government says there are no funds. But the government made fountains worth Rs 60 lakh a few years back. Obviously the people did not need fountains. These fountains did not work for a single day, even on the inauguration day, because there is no water!

Likewise, we see that the same footpaths and roads are broken and repaired again and again. But the road in front of my house never gets repaired.

So we, the citizens of India, do not have any control over government funds. Government money is our money. We pay taxes. Even a beggar on the street pays tax - when he buys a piece of soap, he pays sales tax and many other taxes. All this money belongs to us. And we have absolutely no control over it?

We also do not have any control over government policies or the kind of laws passed by our legislatures. Recently, the government introduced Nuclear Civil Liability Bill. It seeks to cap the liability of a foreign company to just Rs 500 crore in the event of an accident on its nuclear reactor. It will have no criminal liability. I thought the government was playing with our lives. Almost selling our lives. And why is the government doing this? Some companies seem to be lobbying for this Bill. And we, the people of India, have no say in it?

So, we have no control over government employees, government funds, government policies. Is this democracy? Just vote once in five years and then plead before the same people who you voted to power? Or plead before the officials who take salary out of your taxes?

We have a democracy of elections to elections. After winning an election, the parties become brazen and arrogant. They would do all wrong things and if you question them, they would say - why don't you change the government next time? But that would be five years later. What do I do right now? I am suffering right now.

Right to Information is a small concrete step in making our polity more democratic. In this bizarre democracy of elections to elections, it has given power to the people to "just question" the governments. Is it not time to move a step forward and demand some kind of direct participation in government decision making? Is that possible?

Yes, words from the manufacturer of the those missiles. Very credible and good marketing I have to say.

China, in January 2007, had displayed its anti-ballistic missile capabilities while knocking out a disused satellite in space. This was the world's first declared A-SAT test.

Earlier in January, the Chinese declared that they had successfully tested a ground-based mid-range anti ballistic missile.

"China only had the building blocks for an ATBM," Saraswat said.

"We started our ATBM programme in 1999 and in terms of capabilities, we are way ahead of them," he added.

Saraswat said India had perfected the building blocks for an A-SAT weapon but there were no plans to field any such system.
For his own information China started ASAT program in 1960's. So what he was saying is that India has something which the program itself does not exist, let alone being tested is more capable than the one China has tested. Very well done.

Here is some comments for this article from your own countryman. I am glad there are still clear headed people from your country unlike here.

Dr Saraswat
Dr Saraswat claims India is ahead of China in some area of missile technology. That claim is likely to comfort many Indians. However, one has to take it with skepticism. In almost all branches of science, technology and education, China appears to be ahead of India. If one accepts that scenario, it is difficult to believe that, in some area of rocketry, and a very important area at that, they are behind us. If at all that claim can be vindicated, the Chinese will, in all likelihood, pay special attention to that area immediately. They are likely to come ahead of us, very soon. This is the logical conclusion one can make because China pumps in a lot more of resources into higher education, and technology than we do. While India has no claim among the top 100 universities of the world, China has several. The annual budget of a single top university in China is more than the total sum we are planning to spend on ten or so new, top class universities. Unless we spend more, (very much more for we have to make up for the backlog) we are likely to remain far behind China in science, technology and their application in modern warfare. We cannot simply wish away that fact, pardon Dr. Saraswat, his superb scientific knowledge and his high position. vpninan@hotmail.com
Posted by: Raj Sydney, Australia | February 11, 2010 | 06:51 IST The facts state that China has developed and successfully tested DF-31A with a range of 11,200 kms in the year 2006 and was inducted in the PLA's Second Artillery Corps by 2007. They had missiles that have far greater range compared to ours by mid 80's. If there are no facts that support what Dr says, I believe that the Indian people are being given crap and rubbish. There has to be a complete overhaul of the Defense Research area with more capital and private company's participation for some decent and logical change to our country' s defense systems which is very prudent. Has any one ever realized how protected are the East Indian borders. Its a walk in the park for terrorists, shame on our rulers who think India would become a superpower with this kind of progress in the last 50 years. Post Your Comment

"But our accuracies are better than the Chinese missiles," Dr Saraswat said.

He, however, declined to mention the Circular Error Probability or CEP of the Agni-III
He forgot to mention that the missile he is comparing to is more than a decade old while its newest variant is supposed to be able to give moving target(ASBM).

Again he is comparing something that has not been in service to something that has been for more than 10 year here. Do you see a pattens?

why not????????. India can give nuclear bomb just like china is giving to Pakistan .

And add arihant version of submarines with shourya missiles............. :azn:

Taiwan started nuclear weapon program in in late 1960's, it was stopped under US pressure while US still recognized ROC as the legit government of China. What make you think US is happy if ROC get his hands on nuclear weapon nowadays?

Give it to Taiwain and possibly Afghanistan as well :P

Lets have some fireworks :P

It is good that they can. I saw an interesting documentary about how elections were held for the first time in China to elect "monitors" in schools - and I wondered who was more excited - the kids or the teachers.

In my opinion, a free AND FAIR press is a major safeguard against potential government tyranny. In India, we are fortunate that besides hokum like the pathetic Times of India we do have papers like the Indian Express and the Hindu. Either way - I'd much rather see India and China join forces and have an "Asio" kind of currency - all said and done we have been at peace for 5000 years as civilizations unlike the Europeans. If they can get put their differences behind them, I am sure we can as well.

Monitors were always elected by the students in the school even when I was a kid, that is no big deals.

What is interesting is this:
"Direct elections
Direct elections in the People's Republic of China take two forms: elections for village leader in selected rural villages and elections for local people congresses.

Since taking power in 1978, Deng Xiaoping experimented with direct democracy at the local level. Villages have been traditionally the lowest level of government in China's complicated hierarchy of governance. In the early 1980s, a few southern villages began implementing "Vote for your Chief" policies, in which free elections are intended to be held for the election of a village chief, who holds a lot of power and influence traditionally in rural society. Many of these elections were successful, involving candidate debates, formal platforms, and the initiation of secret ballot boxes. The suffrage was universal, with all citizens above age 18 having the right to vote and be elected. Such an election comprises usually over no more than 2000 voters, and the first-past-the-post system is used in determining the winner, with no restriction on political affiliation. The elections are always supervised by a higher level of government, usually by a County Government.

Under the Organic Law of the Village Committees, all of China's approximately 1 million villages are expected to hold competitive, direct elections for subgovernmental village committees. A 1998 revision to the law called for improvements in the nominating process and enhanced transparency in village committee administration. The revised law also explicitly transferred the power to nominate candidates to villagers themselves, as opposed to village groups or Chinese Communist Party (CCP) branches. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of 2003 the majority of provinces had carried out at least four or five rounds of village elections."
Elections in the People's Republic of China

But the results are very interesting though, not all of elected village leaders, but many of those who got elected are not the ones that fit to lead, but the ones that can make better promises, and provides instant benefits to the villages. Guess what happens after they get elected. They start to using the resources of the village to benefit themselves at least to compensate their loses during the election(normally the cost of bribrey and lobbing to the villagers.) The problem is that they normally keep getting reelected for the next turn, because they have more resources for lobbying and bribrey after their tennure as the village leaders. Remember this is rural areas that people are not every educated and are not very far sighted.

The dynamics of east asian politics goes something like this...India recognizes Taiwan as a part of China and Chnia inreturn supports (or at least keeps quiet) about India's UNSC bid. Simple? .

And how do you make this up? First of all, you do not make things up to show that you are smart. It just shows that you are ignorant.
2ndly, China would never negotiate the condition of taiwan for India's UNSC bid.

Despite all your big statements about 'power play' and getting out of the way, big powers will come together and decide what is best for their mutual interest. So of course we won't arm taiwan or give them nukes...why should we? We are intersted in more important things. So next time you want to lecture us on world politics, keep it to yourself.

The fact that this thread was started doesn't make sense.

Ohhhhh so you think I made that up did ya?? wakey wakey.

Y don't you google it up and get a reality check on how 'world politics' works and how it's not based on your own assumptions on how things are supposed to work.

Give taiwan the brahmos missile but russia will never allow it, thats the problem.

The scenario you described is not a reality. So naturally, you made it up.

Stop make up things just to prove your foolishness.

Since that my post was deleted for unknown reason, here I have to say again. Taiwan will not need Brahmos, it already got its supersonic cruise missile Hsiung Feng III.
