Question about Indian Administered Kashmir

That is not the case. Princely states were given the right to decide which country they wished to join. Junagarh decided for Pakistan and was occupied by India using force.

Hyderabad remained independent till September 1948. They even had a representation in the UN. On 13th September 1948 Indian army invaded Hyderabad and occupied it.

Just like how Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir decided for India and Pakistan tried to capture it by force.

No..India just claims it as an "integral" part of India when the citizens there want no part of India.

The citizens of all the southern states didn't want to be part of the US. What happened next is history.

Wrong...completely wrong.

Anyway you don't see American Southerners throw stones at the cops.

You are the master of strawman arguments...are you not.

Right, completely right!

I still see southern flags in almost all garages in the south.

Salam...

I have read past discussions amongst Pakistanis and Indians regarding their views on Indian-administered Kashmir. The majority of discussions (largely composed of puns) rotate around which nation Kashmir as a whole should be a part of and about the human plight within Indian administered Kashmir. I have visited Pakistani Kashmir but the stay was too short to speak to locals (was also disadvantaged being a foreigner). I have always had one question though which seems to be neglected in all such discussions.

What are the honest opinions of members here regarding what Indian Kashmiris themselves (and themselves alone) think of their position-- Is there a strong Pakistan sentiment amongst Indian Kashmiris or do they rather wish for independence from both or is the majority satisfied with New Delhi as their capital?

I already know what views the respective governments hold, I want reference to the peoples own will only. I would really wish that Indian and especially Kashmiri members contribute. I know this is a rather sensitive question but I hope the answers remain healthy and informative.
One of the things I like to point out is that there is no Indian Kashmir. There is either Jammu and Kashmir or Indian Administered Kashmir if you would like to make a distinction.

Calling it, Indian Kashmir is a non-starter with most Pakistanis.

There are 4 Kashmirs

1) J&K, the original kingdom which seceded to India, not recognized by Pakistan
2) P O K, captured by Pakistan, not recognized by India
3) I O K, captured by India after contested by Pakistan, not recognized by Pakistan
4) C O K, parts seceded by Pakistan to China, not recognized by India. Part captured during 1962, not recognized by India.

There are two kind of people... let me show you...

Kashmir is Indian now. A plebiscite is almost impossible now. The sooner pak realizes it’ better for three parties.

In last 60 years India tried its best use of force, curfews, killings but still Kashmir is a problem, Kashmiri people still hate hindu India:sick: in the end Pakistan and Kashmir's will win. :pakistan:

Kashmiri throw stones at the cops to send a message that we hate you we hate Hindu India and i am afraid of that day when all Kashmiri's will have AK's in their hands. :D

Who on earth cares???

Highly populated Hindu pundits were forced out. Hindu King wrote it down for India. India took control, gave it autonomy, highest subsidy, and still developed it...

Come out of your slumber buddy, 'Jammu and Kashmir' belongs to India, and that's all that matters. And that's all that's real - If it hurts you... good, if it doesn't... it's still good.

wat referendum?those who want to go with pak, border is open.but kashmir wont move even a single centimeter.i think pak shud care 4 himself.rather than taking interst in kashmir.
Thats the problem......You are taking things emotionally now. How the borders are open. Anyone even go near the border will get shot. Visa process are lenghty as hell because of teh distrust between two nations.

2ndly why are you guys so afraid of referendum??? I think it shows the whole story. I mentioned countries which i felt are neutral. And they'll be coming under UN flag. Suggest any country you think is neutral. I wont have any problem.

The current beating India is getting from local Kashmiris is proof enough of the shaky grounds your "Kashmir belongs to India" declaration stands on.

Pasban, it is a matter of debate whether Kashmiris want to be a part of Pakistan/India or if they want to be independent, the reason being that no survey has been held leading to all three scenarios being viewed as equally plausible. However, during my time in Azad Kashmir, we met loads of Kashmiris(not surprisingly) most of whom were pro-Pakistan, some among them wanted to live in an autonomous region which would include IOK and the present Azad Kashmir. Some Kashmiris also sent "Sheer Khorma"(Vermicellis) for Pakistani soldiers across the border on the occasion of eid, this action was once also re-enacted by the Indian army in order to distract soldiers while they launched an attack on a Pakistani post on the occasion of eid in 2002.
