Dubai: Pakistan and West Indies have failed to get direct qualification for the 2019 ICC World Cup, after they were placed at the eighth and ninth position in the ICC ODI rankings respectively, on Wednesday.

The two teams completed a three-match ODI series on Tuesday, which the Pakistanis won 2-1. West Indies had gotten off to a good start in the tournament, after they chased down a target of 309, their highest successful run chase in ODI history.
However, Pakistan came back in the next two games, to clinch the series 2-1.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, they needed a 3-0 win against the Windies, in order to get direct qualification for the 2019 50-over World Cup.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, qualified for the World Cup, after finishing seventh in the ICC ODI Rankings.

However, both West Indies and Pakistan will get another shot at qualifying for the 2019 Wold Cup, if they do well in the 10-team ICC world Cup Qualifiers, next year.

The ODI rankings on May 1, 2017 will be taken into consideration, while determining which sides directly qualify for the World Cup. In order to ensure that the rankings are based upon the recent matches, the games between May 1, 2014 to May 1, 2017 will be considered for the standings.

South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, India, England, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are the seven countries to have qualified for the 2019 world Cup, as of yet.

Source is an Indian news paper so not authentic.
Also Indian stench in ICC has almost suffocated cricket as they mix their hate against Pakistan with a sports.

No more interested in Cricket after ICC=BCCI and after i came to know lots of Matches was fixed by our team and crrupt politically controled Board, specialy againt India
Alot of dirty politics has got involved so Cricket is no more a sport to enjoy, it doesn't worth our time and emotions anymore
will give it a chance if IK comes into power and fix it, cant expect much from current regime

ICC recently changed the law reducing the number of teams in the upcmong world cup to ten teams (reduced from 14 before). This means that only the top 7 ranked teams qualify automatically. 3 more can qualify through the qualification stage.

Seriously if there is one sporting organisation that is hell bent on not letting its sport expand, it has to be the ICC. The same old teams every single freakin world cup, t20 cup, Champions trophy etc.

One could almost believe the people sitting in the ICC upper management have some kind of vested interest in making sure upcoming minnows like Ireland, Afghanistan etc get no chance to play at the top level.

-----------

England and the seven other top teams on 30 September 2017 will qualify directly for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with the remaining four teams getting a second chance through a 10-team ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifying tournament in 2018.

That's a wise decision. Cricket is a useless game anyways. Pakistan should focus on soccer.

The only reason I watch cricket is because Pakistan play it. Otherwise no way in he'll would I watch it lol. Football is really the most popular global sport for a reason. Win a cricket world cup and the vest majority of the world couldn't give a shi*. Win the football world cup and everyone will know that country.

ab yeh din b dekhnay reh gai thay:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:
jee yeh hi din daikhna tha. jab jangay hukamran hon or ghadar PCB kay chairman ho or PSL sarif paison kay liye bani ho to yeh to vo game hai jis say sab piyar kertay hain aap imagin karain vo cheezain jin per kesi ki tavaju nahi.
aisay hukamron ki mar ki dard baad mein hoti hai. abhi to IMF kay thapar baki hain. Pani bajli bhi full zaleel karaygi.
lakin in ko maroor bhi hon to England jatay hain.

Aren't top 8 teams supposed to qualify directly..if that is the case then I don't see any reason for concern..

How Pakistan has failed to qualify when it still sit at no 8? September is the cut-off date and Pakistan have to remain in the top eight until then

KARACHI: With a 2-1 win against the West Indies in three-match ODI series, Pakistan cricket team – it seems – now is in possibly a safe zone as far as direct qualification for the 2019 Cricket World Cup is concerned.

Pakistan was on verge of being eliminated from teams qualifying directly for the event a few months ago, but the team managed to keep its ranking and rating stable.

Following the 2-1 win against West Indies, Pakistan has improved its rating points and are placed at 8th position in the ODI rankings, comfortably 7 rating points ahead of 9th placed West Indies.

7th place Bangladesh is just two rating points ahead of Pakistan.

At the annual updates, results of matches played 48 months ago will completely be eliminated, while the point weightage of two years, minus last one year, would cut to half.

As consequence of annual update, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and West Indies are likely to lose rating points and following the annual updates, the gap between Pakistan and West Indies will be extended to 11 rating points.

The cut-off date for World Cup qualification is 30 September 2017, with West Indies due to play 10 more ODIs, both against better-ranked teams, 5 against England in England and 5 against India in India. These ten matches provide West Indies with an opportunity to overcome the ranking deficit.

Pakistan is scheduled to play at least six more ODIs before the cut-off date, three minimum in Champions Trophy and three against Bangladesh.

While, Bangladesh will also play a triangular series in Ireland, with matches scheduled against lower-ranked team Ireland as well. Any loss to the lower ranked team would see the rating points deducted from Bangladesh’ account, which may result in team’s demotion in ICC ranking.

With present current scenario, if there are no upsets in matches to come, Pakistan looks very much safe for the direct qualification to the World Cup 2019, with former world champion West Indies in the danger zone.

Host plus 7 teams will qualify but author has messed up everything. So total of 8 team will qualify
