What's new

A first: US allowed to check Indian warship

We will get all the milk and blood outta the camel and then kill it for meat:)

We want to taste biryani topped with camel meat.

That sounds over-dramatic.
A living Camel is better; for the rides, for the milk and whatever. Then the Camel can die of old age. Time then for another Camel or Horse or whatever.

no neighbors managed to kick the camel out of the tent

enjoy it :bounce::welcome::toast_sign:

you have accidentally written the greatest joke of the millennium..

Congrats to u, but I am very sorry for ur nation, please don't crack such insensitive jokes in future on a public forum, the mods may ban u..

why did we even get their stuff on the jalshwa?....the usa would be decomissioning a lot of stuff in the near future...it'd be good to get stripped down versions...then retrofit in country

The standard EUMA that US signs is that all the military equipment will be verified from time to time by US inspectors on whether it has been used as per the legal agreement while purchasing. This standard EUMA is that all the equipment will be tested on site. Pakistan complies with this as do others.

India however was the only nation to sign a significantly different EUMA. only the equipment that is mutually decided as sensitive or is deemed sensitive under US laws will be subject to checks (instead of whole platforms like for other nations) and even that will be transported to a separate location where US inspectors will have access to it. They will not get access to bases where the equipment is deployed. No on site access.

This is only in major cases, otherwise in most other cases US inspectors will just get to see the log book of that platform/equipment and not physical access.

Now even though these terms are far better than what others have..they are still not good.

Indian defence institutions must remember this inscident before reaching any agreement with the US.

i am strictly agains US defence equipmens in Indian inventory.
we were happy with the Russian equipment iin the past. we have open invtation by the Europian & Isarial for JV & TOT. why do we need US???????????????????

We are not exactly happy with Russian equipment. We put up with it coz we didn;t have many viable options. Its in our interest to look around and see what is out there.

quite normal ..... pls dont create a fuss ... its just that its happening for the first time in india ....chillax

Just a query. We are using the GE make Gas Turbines for propulsion in our ships, especially the IAC under construction. Do these too come under EUMA.
Also, What about the GE make jet engines in LCA-Tejas?

Neighbors Slept with Camel (in Tent) but we didn't............................
well GOI going down the same lane.

Indian did alright. They are working to keep the tent as well as to milk the Camel, when they're not riding it.
milk like or get milked like bhopal Gas tragedy.btw ur ruling class is in cahoots with usa milking the real sons/daughters of soil with usa help.

so what is the problem US is a very reliable friend, we should not get jeleous with our neighbors and wish them luck with open heart.

Let me try to explain about this EUMA (End User Monitoring Arrangement) stuff. Any country that sells armaments has (or should have) a concern that those armaments do not get diverted to some shady or illegitimate entity. So EUMAs are built into any arms deal that takes place, from any supplier; be it USA, UK, Germany, France, Sweden or anyone. Conceivably even China may be incorporating it. The only difference is what is the scope of it and how is it enforced. The USA is (deliberately) very agressive about it, that is the difference. For instance, Pakistan has ongoing EUMAs apart from CISMOA and other similar agreements on-going with the USA (as are nearly 90 other countries). India has the EUMA with the US for its US origin arms but has refused to sign the CISMOA and the other pacts with USA. So India is unable to access some US equipment till those get bypassed.
If Pakistan (for example) exports the JF-17 to Yemen (for example again) it will seek a EUMA to ensure that they do not get diverted to Somalia for instance. That would be both valid and prudent.

About the American actions against STANC about sanctions, that is simply the American version of Pax Imperia. Love it or hate; we can't do too much about it in the present dispensation.

Its a deal between two countries and depends on how important that country is, do you or anyone thinks that India will give US equipment to any other country, like you said its not enforced much and only when the supplier country is not satisfied will ask for monitoring

we wish all the luck to everyone who is usa partner.Wont like india to tread the same path as others wrt usa.

still indians dont learn......

I do support your point of view. US used Pakistan to make Buffer between Soviet and NATO in Afghanistan, same way they will make us fall into Honey trap to make a buffer in Tibet with our Help.

Yes. Even if you buy a needle building technology, US will hold your neck so that you do not use them against their allies or reverse engineer it. And why should they NOT??? This is their money on research, their technology, they have spent billions developing it. But many researchers are Indians only(haha)

I think we are loosing a plot here, If India had waited 5-7 years & did not ordered any US weapon system (like P-8I,C-17s etc.), than since India being the highest weapons importer + US economy becoming more saturated + Growing importance of India in world affairs & specially for US, US would had allowed the sale of major weapon systems without such intrusive agreements like EUMA. And now since we have banded for EUMA they are insisting on LSA, CISMOA etc. I don't understand what in the world was the need of signing EUMA as we can buy everything from other countries (though not exactly of same tech as US but at least we din't had such intrusions earlier).
