Boeing is planning to fly two Super Hornet fighter jets to Goa this summer for operational demonstrations before its potential buyer the Indian Navy, according to a senior company executive.
Making a strong sales pitch for F/A-18 Super Hornet, vice president of Boeing’s India Business Development Alain Garcia said the aircraft has been specifically designed from its inception for carrier operations, can operate from the Indian Navy aircraft carriers and will meet or exceed the STOBAR performance requirements of the Indian Navy. “This has been proven by our successful ski-jump tests conducted in 2020 and extensive simulation studies. Additionally, we will also prove that further with operational demonstrations in India in May and June,” Garcia told PTI in an interview. (Source/Image: PTI/Boeing)

The US Navy operates more than 800 Super Hornets and EA-18 Growlers, the electronic attack version of the F/A-18. “With the latest Block III configuration, the Super Hornet is suited to protect India’s maritime interests, and we anticipate the Super Hornet and P-8I will open up opportunities for greater interoperability between the two navies for a secure Indo-Pacific,” he said. India always enjoyed Quantitative advantage against Pakistan and Pakistan maintained qualitative edge due to western weaponary. Now things are turning around. India is getting hands on wester technology and Pakistan is looking for 3rd class Russian and Chinese technology. Thanks to Pakistan double game foreign policies. Now India have both Qualitative and Quantitative edge over Pakistan.

Reasonable to be picked, it has relatively the same engine with Tejas. I believe India will buy it

Not sure. Armed forces recently spoke about common platforms to utilize the same resources of each other forces. Choosing Rafale could bring down maintenance and weapons cost down.

Just looking at the pending orders for Rafale in the pipeline makes me wonder how feasible that’s going to be.

Rafale's naval variant was reported to have some issues during trial

West is fully embracing India as a hedge against China and Pakistan. What can Pakistan do now to secure our national interests?

India cannot afford to buy Western equipment in the required numbers yet. There is also the technology transfer and local production aspirations that are not met by Western companies :undecided:

This will be operated by Navy, not Air Force, so the maintenance will be handled by different maintenance depo

I am agree on the weapon communality though, so Tejas doesnt use American missile ???

Maybe there will be integration with India missile, so once again this can be brought to the proposal

Hornet is lot cheaper than Rafale and the Superhornet I believe has more range than Rafale

Pakistan can and could have done a lot of things but it is pointless to discuss this topic because its civilian and military leadership are not interested in doing any of these things, and will not be for the foreseeable future.

I say just nuke the Indians already before they become a bigger threat.

India attack to Pakistan will lead to Muslim world trade sanction to India. More over weapons supply from Muslim world and possibly China.

How many jets (tender) are required by the IN?
18 Single Seaters + 8 Twin seaters. An additional 10 may be ordered later. Total anticipated numbers is 36.

Original requirement was of 57. Cut down due to TEDBF.

F18SH if acquired will be based out of Vizag and A&N islands. Not really an immediate concern for Pakistan.

The problem with Rafale M is absence of 2 seater Aircraft Carrier variant. Out of 26, 8 Aircrafts are to be twin seaters.
