Both sides came to an 'understanding' now what that 'understanding' is will determine who blinked?

1. China said it will not talk until India withdraws but now we know that talks were going on and an understanding has been reached

2. India has withdrawn and Chinese will patrol the area is but understood. The area is claimed by both China and Bhutan so both have been and will patrol the area

3. India's only contention was that China was trying to change the status-quo by building a road. Now if the understanding is that China will build the road then it's India that has blinked and if the understanding is that China will not build the road then it's China that has blinked

Were there talks? The only talking Chinese diplomatic channels did was asking India to withdraw before any discussion. You just did that as told. :enjoy:

India was very adamant on a mutual face saving withdrawal. Look what just happened?

India explicitly stated that they will ONLY WITHDRAW until China agree to stop the road construction. Where is the agreement. No official statement at all from both sides. If they were, the loud mouth Indians would have trumpeted it LOUDLY. There is now extreme silence from GOI.

Did the Chinese government said that they are going ahead with the road building? If tomorrow it becomes clear that the Chinese are no longer building the road will you agree that the Chinese have been shamed and have blinked first

Did we say we are not?. Did we gave you any agreements? You withdrew without a single commitment by China. Shamed? It's our territory, our roads are already half way completed. You did not dare to even destroy a single inch.. China had been very clear, this is our territory, negotiations is between Bhutan and China, never India. If China were to agree, US can just land in SCS islands and stop our work there. Dangerous precedents.

Why didn't Chinese statement state that they are building the road then? If tomorrow China states they are going ahead and building the said road and India withdrew unilaterally I will agree that India blinked but if it comes out that China has agreed not to build the said road then you guys chickened out

We just did, we shall continue to" assert sovereignty", this is more than just a road, it can be a radar base, a military base or air base. How do we withdraw when we are still there patrolling?

You are assuming alot of things your self. Where it has mentioned that they will not build the road. Chinese said they consider it as their sovereign land. they are currently patrolling it. So can you explain in simple english when both armies withdrew as by Indian login then how come Chinese are still patrolling the same area. I know they were patrolling before the stand off. But the point here is you guys are claiming both Sides withdrew? So how its mutual withdrawal when they are still patrolling?

In that case you should read our Army chiefs statement a day before.

If a party unilaterally choose to break a promise made (if any) during a peace process, it will gravely affect any future peace endeavors in similar situation. A nation should be stupid to cheat other on peace any agreements. :-)

Agreement is, Chinese troops will continue to patrol the area and Indians will go back.

Chinese have made mistakes. They didn't come fully prepared. Now they have learned the lesson.
Road will be there in a year or two

Sure, but in your dreams. LOL :rofl::rofl:

You need to check the meaning of Patrol first. We never had any issue with you or Bhutan patrolling the area. We had problem with you building the road and changing the status quo. Neither side has officially stated about building or not building the road yet. If it's back to status quo means no road by Chinese we achieved whatever we set out to do. You guys after all the rhetoric and warnings meekly surrendered.

India's original claim is that Donglang is 100% Bhutan's territory, and that they are bound by mutual defence treaty to help Bhutan.

Now suddenly, they are OK with Chinese troops and Chinese garrisons in Donglang on a permanent basis?

What happened to India's mutual defence treaty with Bhutan?

China's official statement said that we will continue to uphold full sovereign rights over the territory, which basically means we can build whatever we want. And there are no more unarmed hand-holding Indian troops to block it. :P

Bro, patrol means we will be present in that area and after this incident we will assert ourselves even more. How to you withdraw and patrol? You need to be present and patrol genius. Who are YOU? You think you are a superpower? What gives you the right to dictate your interests? We can do the same to you in Nepal and Pakistan. You want that? Ladakh was a wake up call for you. We are telling you we can play the same game too. That's why you gave in to prevent escalation.

Yah, awesome logic, the one withdrawing is India and we 'surrendered'?. So we surrendered in 1962 too? So where is this agreement to stop road building? Should we go into Kashmir and stop Indian road on behalf of Pakistan? Since it is our 'interest' too. We can sign a mutual defence pact with Pakistan too. You want that? This incident just made you enemy number ONE, not US.

Uphold full sovereign rights over the territory also means 'we will patrol'. They could have just said clearly we will build the unfinished road but they didn't

Be present, patrol, dance and do whatever we care a darn but we won't let you construct the said road. We set out to do so and looks like we have achieved the same with you Chinese chickening out.

By unilaterally withdrawing all Indian troops, India is essentially depending on China's "good will" to stop the road construction.

How did that work out with CPEC in Kashmir or the South China Sea? :P Did China stop construction on CPEC despite India claiming it to be their land?
