Oh so you are proud cheater and backstabber :lol: You conveniently forgot we have all the heights in Doklam and surrounding regions and can see pretty much see any of your cr@p coming from miles

How do you know that any promise was made by China to India?

China is more powerful and will do as it pleases.

There is no cheating or backstabbing because China never promised anything to do with any roads. Just like we never promised to stop building CPEC in Kashmir because India claims it as their territory.

In fact from China's official statement it seems like China has not offered any concessions at all.

China asked for unilateral withdrawal of all Indian troops, and we got it. Neither side mentioned anything about any roads, check the official statements.

Yes neither side mentioned anything about any road, that has probably been the understanding between the two sides so that nobody will claim victory. Now if in reality it is in fact a unilateral withdrawal of all Indian troops then China got what it wanted. But if terms of withdrawal is that the said road will not be built then India got what it wanted. So we need to wait a day or two and see whether the road will be built or not.

Your MEA has already released their official statement, so has China.

Neither statement mentioned anything about any roads.

Both the statements were carefully worded. In a day or two the terms of withdraw will be public. I don't know how it works in China but in India government will have to answer the people/opposition in Parliament. In fact when Doval was in China he was there with a proposal to ask China to build the road at a distance, maybe that got agreed upon we will know the details by tomorrow I believe.

It ain't work that way. Do you even know the meaning of bilateral agreement ??? :p:

Were there talks? The only talking Chinese diplomatic channels did was asking India to withdraw before any discussion. You just did that as told. :enjoy:

India was very adamant on a mutual face saving withdrawal. Look what just happened?

India explicitly stated that they will ONLY WITHDRAW until China agree to stop the road construction. Where is the agreement. No official statement at all from both sides. If they were, the loud mouth Indians would have trumpeted it LOUDLY. There is now extreme silence from GOI.
And, Pentagon is relying on these folks to "do more" for them in Afganistan!!!!!!!!

For this stand off the Indian object achieved 100%: road construction has stopped. Now if the road construction starts again then we will have a new standoff.

Shupa Powa!!

India's original claim is that Donglang is 100% Bhutan's territory, and that they are bound by mutual defence treaty to help Bhutan.

Now suddenly, they are OK with Chinese troops and Chinese garrisons in Donglang on a permanent basis?

What happened to India's mutual defence treaty with Bhutan?

LOL!
That's quite a generous dose of "reading between the lines"!

Well from both the official statements, India has withdrawn all of their troops while Chinese troops will stay. That doesn't require any reading between the lines. :P

The Chinese troops were always patrolling as were the Bhutanese..so that hasn't stopped. Its basically status quo...
The fate of the road is yet to be determined...

But the claim of having a permanent garrison or bunkers on disputed territory is a far cry...that did require some "jimmying".

But the claim of having a permanent garrison or bunkers on disputed territory is a far cry...that did require some "jimmying".

That's what the official Chinese spokesperson said:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...2fddb6-8bc7-11e7-a2b0-e68cbf0b1f19_story.html

“The Chinese frontier defense force will continue to patrol and garrison in the Doklam area,” spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular news conference. “The situation at the spot has changed, and China will adjust and deploy according to current situation.”

----------

Why would China not garrison our own territory?

This is not some temporary rental deal, China has made it clear that it believes Donglang is ours on a permanent basis.

Lets analyse it

So the current status is:

1) Indian Army has been withdrawn
2) Chinese Army is still patrolling the area
3) Road construction status is "pause" or halted for now.

Let analyse it with Demands made by both china and india.

India demanded:
1) Both parties to go back and withdrew together to disengage
2) Then we can discuss about anything i.e road construction

China Demanded:
1) First withdrawal of Indian troops
2) After that we will talk about road.

Objectives:
China: Withdrawal of Indian Troop and Construction of road.
India: Withdrawal of Both parties first and no more construction of road.

So i think currently Chinese objectives has been achieved and Indian objectives will depend on either Chinese will permanently stop the construction of road or they gonna build it.

For now Chinese are in leading the position. But time will tell in longer run who got the real victory.

Your view guys

It is very apparent that the Chinese have prevailed.

If the Chinese are being allowed to patrol then I would assume that India has implicitly conceded that the territory is not disputed. So the Chinese would start constructing the road in the future.

They might be thinking, it's time to pay back to Ghaznavis and Ghoris
Yes, a very rude awakening for our Pentagon boys!!! Now they will understand it's a "men's" job!!!! For a reason, top strategic decisions are taken by politicians - not the "fake" media-created ones!!!! And, the guys at the top don't share their "pieces of mind" publicly, nor show all their options explicitly for they're not in as secured positions as those at the bottom who have the luxury to shout all "hell" out!!!
