Pakistan to get Chinese AEW&C aircraft this year

Wow ... man you must have X-ray vision to see the junk hidden beneath the radome.

Quit being stupid. Do you really want to judge the performance of a radar from its appearance ?

i am talking about the platform sir!
the plane itself seems to be preety much outdated

You seriously need to then learn about Y-8F600.

The Chinese have partnered with western and Ukrainian companies and make this one much better. It has 50% more fuel carrying capacity. Engines have become better, all glass cockpit, new propeller system, all over better specifications.

And the Chinese have partnered with western Honeywell and P&W for export models if any order received.

Honeywell will give avionics and P&W will give engines.

From china we get the latest stuff on the shelf and from US we atleast get a 3 decade old junk

Hi, can anyone kindly please provide some evidence that that Chinese refused the IL-76 based KJ-2000 to the PAF? Or did the PAF simply pick the smaller AEW, KJ-200 based on operating costs? I am just curious. Thanks!

KJ2000 uses IL76 platform, but PAF or PLAAF have no more this planes to build KJ2000, and Russia has no capbility to provide this type planes becouse of some reseans,China has no owner-made big plane to adapt the KJ2000 system else.So KJ200 is the best solution for our best friend PAF.But the good news for you is China was working for independent intellectual property rights big plane "C919",by the time C919 come true,KJ2000 system will be avilable also.Good luck for you!

But that 3 decade old stuff is far advance than the latest stuff from China which you are getting. And that is still more reliable and backbone of your armed forces. You take any example.

Dear,

What you have said above is 100% correct, just like the way India operating 4 decade old stuff (read: mig21/23/27/29 & su27 variants) which are still better than what it's making for itself.

Their is no doubt in my mind that USA and Russia are far far ahead in aerospace technologies. USA/Russia sent manned missions to space in 60's, China is just beginning to breach that barrier. USA/Russia have been using Cryogenic Hydrogen-Oxygen engines since 70's, China has just breached that barrier and India is still trying to do so. USA/Russia made 4th Gen fighters in 80's, China breached that barrier with J10's in last decade, and India will breach that barrier this decade.

Yes, they are far far ahead, but the immense infrastructure, manpower and money being poured into R&D by China and India, not to mention the humongous population that both of these countries have, they are bound to cover the gap sooner than expected.

We are aligned with China to reap the benefits when that happens, and we try to keep our engineers in their mix, to guide them while they are growing, and to learn from them when they deliver.

Do you think C919 would be used as a Platform for future KJ-2000 variants ?

This is not true.

KJ-200 and E-2 Hawkeye are similar sized, but many E-2's still in service RIGHT NOW with the USN still use mechanically scanned radar instead of AESA, which all KJ-200 use.

PAF should be very glad to get KJ-200 which is superior to E-2 but same sized.

any news about Chinise or Italian AESAs?

i think we should not underestimate china.. what ever they have done , they have done quite remarkably they are far ahead then us (india pakistan) and we dont have any right to say any thing like this. :china:

there is a lot of time left till C919 makes its first flight, the test flight date given is 2015 and introduction date is 2016 and we no aerospace projects take more time than anticipated

Once C919 production line kicks off..I am sure Chinese will test few airframes for AWACS/AEW&C platforms they've been doing it. Y-10 is the example in early 70's as an air liner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Y-10
purpose of the photograph is that to understand China is able to do it.
japanese awacs

Chinese windtunnel model from 70's i guess.

This awacs is based on YF-8-F200 platform. use pulse-doppler radar

detect distance: >400KM(middle and high air target, auto follow up distance: >300KM)
>200KM(low air and small target)

can follow up >100 targets at the same time, and direct >20 fighter planes.
