US B-2 bombers sent to Korea on rare mission

South Korea and North Korea are all big mouth,I don't think China will go war for N.K now, N.K is too crazy and foolish

that is what i am saying... how suppose it is a shame? North korea is a rogue state.... waste of time and money to go war for such country....

Sign of weakness.

will u say same thing, when USA send a USN AC group to defend pakistan in 1971? double standard...

While the 20-year-old B-2 often flies for long durations - 44 hours is the record - Thursday's flight of approximately 37-1/2 hours was the plane's first non-stop mission to the Korean peninsula and back from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, Air Force officials said.

44 hours? :woot: Where the dickens do they go for a crap? Do it somewhere on board and then drop it over enemy territory as a stink bomb? Sheeesh! :cheesy:

But seriously, each B-2 costs a whopping $1 billion!!! That's > Rs 5000 crores for crying out loud!! :woot: WTF? For that kinda money you can buy 10 Eurofighter Typhoons!

The B-2 can carry up to 80,000 lb payload including 16 B61/b83 nuclear bombs, 80 Mk82 1,000 lb bombs or 16 Mk84 2,000 lb bombs, 36 M117 750 lb fire bombs, 36 cluster bombs, or 80 Mk36 1,000 lb sea mines.

It invades other peoples countries if someone did that to US they wouldnt like it.

It is a shame it hides in the wild west, because if it didnt several countries would have finished it off by now. It is about time US was wiped off the map one way or the other.

No one INVADED another country here. One country with almost no economy and proper food, etc is threatening hundreds of millions of people in so many countries.......are you really saying this idiot sitting in NK needs NO warning? You can't just go around and talk about creating a 'sea of fire' on South Korea. They are humans too.

My guess, this MOFO doesn't stop, the B2 and a couple of F-22's need to fly at 10000 feet over their nuclear installations. He'll get the message that if he tries to attack SK, Japan or the US.....it won't just be a 'fly pass'. This is crazy. How could you allow a stupid and loose government to threaten about 450 million people in 3 countries around you?

we all got the wrong idea, the story actually goes like this.

North Korea : YOU US (FEMALE DOG) fly over seoul with your fancy stealth bomber to show powerrw

US: Chilex dude, we just want to update our Google map

North Korea : Have enough of this Propaganda Bullshxt. I know you want to bomb us North with nuclear bom.

North Korea : Don't do anything stupid US, we have "The Bomb"

US: Dude, if we want to bomb you, we would have fly over you not the south

North Korea : Too late now, our glorious army already moved South and our nuclear bomb are ready to make Seoul disappear.

US: We didn't see anything...

North Korea :You stupid American, our army is too fast for you and our nucler bomb is too powerful for you to see

North Korean News Network : On X-X-2013, our glorious army rapidly move across the south and capture their capital after our bomb dropped on lighting speed on South korean and American evil. Our victorious army once again come home with a victory.

Meanwhile the camera pan to Kim Jong Un playing around with his electric model train. And a general comes in.

General: Comarade Kim, we have won over the evil capitalist south. We suffer no casualty.

Kim : Keep on playing his train and continue smoking.

Can your Euro fighter that you suggested above carry a 80 K lb's and fly 8000 miles away UNDETECTED. Turn the enemy nuclear installations into pure rubble and come back without a scratch??? If the answer is no, then the $ 1B is a decent price for the capability or a cheaper price for the capability.
Two B2's and 6 F-22's can go into ANY country, destroy their sensitive installations down to nothing, stop / jam their communications and take out about 3 squadrons of whatever top line crap that they'll scramble.....and yet come back about 90% in tact. I'd vote to build more of the B2's and F-22's any time of the day!!!

Don't forget that the Royal Navy is buying F-35Bs and C variant for it's QE class Carriers.

The B-2 and F-22 have never flown missions over enemy air defences that possess the number of SAM and fighters like Russia or China (Both can shoot down satellites as well). Until then, I can't buy it one bit that the F-22 and B-2 are that capable other than claims from the U.S's side

Relax! They ain't as invincible as you seem to suggest. One B-2 was shot down over Kosovo and one over Iraq.

You said: Turn the enemy nuclear installations into pure rubble and come back without a scratch??? Really? Like the enemy is high on pot and left all assets free to be destroyed by those B-2s! Those salsa days are long gone.

Then you said: (The B-2s would) take out about 3 squadrons of whatever top line crap that they'll scramble...Again, really? Do you even know that B-2s cannot protect themselves? They carry no air intercept missiles. They are sitting ducks once sighted either visually or by radar of aircraft in the vicinity. Remember, the B-2s ain't invisible. It only has a smaller RCS from the front. It'll glow like a Christmas tree if detected by radar from above or directly below. In other words, it has a zero chance of survival after a radar lock by a fighter.

More importantly, the only areas where the B-2s were used was in an air supremacy scenario over Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan where there was no air force worth the name to contend with. Let them try these stunts over countries having 4th/5th gen aircraft and the B-2s will come a cropper. Thus, each B-2 bomber will need to be escorted by at least half a dozen Raptors for conducting a mission. And it ain't gonna be a picnic flying deep into enemy territory with 30 to 40 squadrons of top-of-the-line 4/5th gen fighters waiting for them!

Bottom line: B-2s can only be assigned on strategic missions against countries having no air assets worth the name. The risk of sending these aircraft in without total air supremacy is far too great, not cost effective, and a non starter.....and therefore not an option.

Ummm..

There was NEVER a B-2 shot down.. A F-117 first generation stealth was shot down using patterned traps.
Moreover.. the B-2 was designed to penetrate soviet Russia with a massive and integrated ADGE along with interceptors.
If you going to diss, please do so intelligently.
