US offers help for next generation aircraft carrier

I seriously doubt you know what they discussed in these highly secure meetings. Im sure the US-India collaboratin will become better as time goes by. ust wait and watch....but India needs to show it is a friend not a foe.

Problem lies in India won't be a blind ally but certainly a friend yes

It would be great to work with US. I think we should grab it. Their project management skills are awesome.

Did I say that it would not be beneficial? Or that it should not be pursued? But, indeed, I know exactly what was discussed and a certain development (sad for us and hilarious for them) which was much harped upon. Suffice to say, we continue to amaze the Americans.:laughcry:

We need allocate more funds ... We need to spend atleast 6% of GDP ! atleast for next 10 years ...We are not facing Pakistan any more which can be handled with 2-3% of GDP .. Its China and Pakistan combained threat is not just a wet dream anymore . They will attack India Any time soon ! And do u think Akula and Viki is cheaper to maintain or what ? LOL

It is not 65 or 71 . India is a neutral power . It can gain from all sides . We need to learn about American's Tech and Russian Production rate ! We must be cautioned for sure !

The Nerpa/Charkra and the Vikramidtya are indeed cheaper to operate unless one wants to operate a Nimitz class CVN with just 20 fixed wing platforms- which would be a severe under-utilization of a very expensive platform.

And all this time, you guys were so skeptical of the US. Just wait and watch...The US is a great ally as long you act like an ally. I hope India-US relations reach the moon and the stars. There is a great deal we all can learn from the US. Stop focusing solely on the negative and focus on their positives.

I like your enthusiasm, though it really touches hyperbole. I am still skeptical to an extent about the USA or anybody else for that matter. Remember all this is not driven by any sense of Philanthropy!
Of course, we need to learn; from anybody that has anything exemplary to display. The US does not have sole "squatter's rights" on that territory. So its not about Positives or Negatives.

Its simply all about being sanguine about Realities. That is all that matters. :)

HeHeHeHe; I like the sense of "drama" that you bring to the discourse!
Friend or Foe??
BS; all that India will bring to the table is a clear sense that its either no pushover or no walkover. That kind of relations are best confined to Poodles and Non-NATO allies and such-like creatures. :P
All other ideas can just go take a hike.........................maybe to Mars! :D

Skin the hapless Indians to the last dime。

When will the Indians grow up and stop living on other's charity?

It's not charity, it is going to be paid for. Charity, by definition, will not be paid for. There is a certain country in the neighborhood that depends on American charity for its defence needs, but that country is not India, but your taller than oceans or whatever friend.

Do we really need that many aircraft carrier? Acc are so expensive to maintain and it needs lot of protection. Instead investing on acc, we should invest in conventional subs, nuclear subs, frigates, amphibious landing craft etc which are more important and useful.

How many? The IN needs three aircraft carriers, and only the third one will have EMALS. Having three A/C will ensure that we have at least one operational in the western and eastern theater at all times with one undergoing repairs or scheduled maintenance.

IMO, India should proceed with caution,Russia wont be too happy about this. This might push Russia more towards china and Pakistan.

Its time for India to think about itself instead of worry about what others are thinking. India need to do what is best for its people and its own defense.

That even when offered an assured facility that we needed our own red-tapeism could kill the whole thing. A certain, much awaited infrastructural addition was to be made, even the DRDO could not convince the govt. to get it the required land.:cheesy:
@S-DUCT bro no high alt test facility likely for you. Jaa thappad maar AK ko.:omghaha:

But why would this be discussed in an Indo US meet? was DRDO airing its grievances to the Americans about the issues with acquiring the land? and even if it did, how did concern the Americans for them to be amazed without knowing the details? was it supposed to be a joint DRDO and some US company facility?

IF DRDO could set up such a facility then do you think that GTRE would have had to test the Kaveri in Russia? Who do you think was going to provide the said facility? It wasn't us suffice to say- failure to get past the red-tapes meant that alternate solutions had to be found- which the Americans provided but now they have zeroed in on the condition for offset flexibility to avoid any such babu and MOD assisted idiocy from ever occurring again- after all this facility was nothing else but an offset.

@acid rain when the MOD has no idea of how to manage offsets then such issues will arise. In fact once the DTC is up and running then the cluster fuc% will only increase. Currently a certain industry in Hyderabad will be knocking its collective head against the wall for ever having listened to the babus. Cheers! The only redeeming feature is that all the folks who sat on the chair before AK have MOSTLY been the same in their performance so he isn't a special case.
