Firepower of K9 Vajra

50 units of K9 means it enough to equip 2 SP Artillery Regiments complete, and 3/4 of another. Couple of pieces will have to to Artillery School as well for training purposes.

Options - 2 SP Artillery Regiments to 2 Armored Brigades (may it be of 1, 31 or 33 or of any RAPID (D) or RAPID(S), or of any IABs as well.)

With a weight of 47-50 tons, its critical requirement is availability of bridges. So in my opinion, its deployment in Western Command is least likely, since rivers and streams, crops all around may isolate it. Probably South Western Command (1 and 10 Corps).

My 2 cents.

See what I mean? Almost every amateur would have shouted out "Western Command!"

To be honest, there will be issues even in the Desert, if we are not being conned wholesale by our Armoured wise men. Check the weight, and remember the greatest problem with the Arjuna.

Extended range (RAP, VLAP, ERFB, Base Bleed etc) do come at the cost of accuracy of course. But once a battery or a whole regiment fires on a target, it surely achieves the desired effect by neutralizing an entire area. Lethal distance of a medium artillery shell is 400 m. So, imagine an armored brigade caught in the cauldron of fire.

Our border, South Western Command area is from Fazilka till Bikaner.
The impressive things about K9 is its ability to fire its shells in MRSI mode (Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact). In the MRSI mode, the K9 is able to fire three shells in under 15 seconds—1 shell every 5 seconds—each in different trajectories so that all of the shells will arrive on their target at the same time and its high rate of fire.

PzH2000 was the innovator of this iirc.

In SP Artillery we are in better position than India. But India is fast catching up but we have also lot of options for getting more tracked and truck mounted Artillery Guns

K9 has a amazing story, K9 The main technology comes from the pzh2000 self-propelled gun of Germany. The main components are imported from Germany, in fact, they are assembled in southKorea.

In actual combat, in the 2010 Yeonpyeong Island artillery battle, South Korea 6 K9 self-propelled artillery, there is a card shell, two fire control system problems can not be launched, only three can launch shells.50% availableThe next day, the drone reconnaissance found that most of the shells fell into the sea.

Later, the South Korean artillery lieutenant general and other generals, members went to the island survey. On live TV, they mistook the black kettle for the remains of a North Korean artillery shell.Discussing the caliber of shells, holding a warm kettle in his hand on live TV

Just to add, i was going through a war scenario of an Indian Defence Analyst known to be highly critical and fair to both Pakistan and Indian armies.

The scenario he painted, just one scenario ofcourse there can be many more.....in his scenario PAF opens up the war by systematically destroying all major bridges in Indian territory within 200 kms of the international border. Now, no one, even both armies combined, have that much engineer bridges to replace all of them.

Result, as per him, move of important and heavy Indian formations got late,Pakistan Army made good of that time to achieve critical gains in several sectors.

Thats why, and how, bridges are important. And hence, weight of vehicles as well.

A worthy and excellent weapon system or platform, if it doesnt reaches the battlefield in time, then no use of it. Thats called superior maneuver....simply isolating a critical asset before it can be used.

Exactly, issues regarding weight are also in the desert, but they are less pronounced than the plains.

First, no need to worry about the bridges in desert. You do find ample space and ground, less Nara, to move around mechanised forces.

You also get extended visibility in the desert, which helps you in targeting using difference weapons.

If needed in track category this could be great for us. Although right now I think M 109 numbers are enough but should be upgraded to A5 standard

After our experience with Panter, Turkish artillery systems are not very likely. Only USA enjoys the privilege of stabbibg us (not saying that Turkey really stabbed us but hey, we are not using Panter are we?) over and over and over again!

Was IAF sleeping?
Were they sleeping on 27the February?
Were we sleeping on 26th?

Surprise attack, preemptive strikes. There is just so much you can do against those!

Was IAF sleeping?

That is what happens once you achieve surprise. We can also say that PAF was also sleeping once IAF hit Balakot. But we all know that its nt like that. Once you achieve surprise, you are bound to achieve gains, and the other side will take time to gather up its strength.
