Could you elaborate on the poor relations between Pak - Iran ?

Two points:

1. Iran has a very uncomfortable relationship with all of Arabia especially KSA which has very close relationship with Pakistan (remember Pakistani SSG guard Royals there?) As such Pakistan is not exactly liked by Iran.

2. Pakistan actively supported Taliban in Afghanistan, something which Iran opposed and as such any further likely improvements were done in with by this conflict of interest.

Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz so easily and no amount of US air or naval power could prevent it.

with what? not likely in next 10 years also ..... please appreciate the differences between US and Iranian Naval forces and their ability to carry on sustained military operations .....

maximum is that things can get messy, but above contention is baseless.

oh please; this is what wahabis and indians have in common; spark tension between shias and sunnis. i could say the same for saudia arabia where shias aren't allowed to build mosques; you wont find a single shia mosque in mecca or madina.
