Russians/Israeli mafias in India-- Do we really need them ?

So we host a large number of Israelis in India's southern states ( Goa ,Kerala) and in himachal pradesh. Most of these folks are kids --so naturally they turn to drug dealing and criminal activities once their money runs out.

Israel gets a lot of revenue from the huge number Indian tourists looking to spend their holidays in Israel. Meanwhile our revenue is limited since the tourists here are usually kids looking for some fun after their military service.

Is there any way we can attract the non-hippies from Russia and Israel ?

At the rate we're going Israeli mafia and Russian mafia will take over the south and the rest of all the mafia operations worldwide will base their operations elsewhere in India.

Isn't it time we start making it mandatory for tourists to have a good deal of bank balance before granting visas ?

Won't tolerate Russian, Israeli enclaves: CM

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today warned the Assembly that Russian and Israeli enclaves (colonies) would not be tolerated in the state.



Parrikar told the House that "he had heard about such enclaves existing along the coastline and they would not be tolerated."

The Chief Minister was responding to the concern raised by Congress legislator Mauvin Godinho over the Israelis and Russians creating their own enclaves in Goa, who have been in the state for a long time.

The state government will also ensure that no exclusivity is provided to foreigners in some hotels and shacks, he said.

Also, the hotels and shacks will have to put up sign boards in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi or English, he mentioned.

"Those who put up the board in foreign languages (scripts) will not be given trade licences," he added.

Foreign nationals like Russians and Israelis, who are on long term visas, have created their own colonies in the state's coastline villages like Morjim, Arambol, Calangute and Anjuna.

Most of the israelis backpackers who land in india are those soldiers who have completed their mandatory 3-4 years of military service.these are mostly young ladies and guys who come for some 1-2 yrs of stay in india.blaming them for the drug culture is not right.as drugs were even freely available in india even before they started arriving ing in india since 1998

MUMBAI: If any place in India is top of the mind recall for foreigners, it is Goa - a destination most popular and most known for holidaying. It's among the top 10 holiday places of the world for beach seeking holidayers. Goa has some of the most pristine beaches without doubt. Goa has hence thrived on tourism. But hang on. It may not retain its position for long if the government does not step in and take corrective measures.

While it has got all the trapings of perfect entertainment for holidayers with its innumerable shacks, water sports, adventure sports, India's top party place with Sunburn being the hottest, the rave parties, music, resorts, casinos, fashion, tattoos et al..., it has another facet that is increasingly disturbing: the alarming crime rate, murders, molesting foreigners, rape, drugs, custodial deaths and the list goes on.

Ajtr - There is illegal mining as well in Goa which is an isssue but one can't ignore the Russia mafia taking control part of Goa expanding into real estate as well. Babush Monserrate, a Goan politician's name was there recently in the news for links with Russian mafia. I will not comment on the BJP and Xenophobia.

Relax buddy. I just made the thread for the sake of discussion. We are free to discuss any subject under the sun so long as it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.

Its true that Russian and Israeli mafias are pretty strong in India--especially down south. There is no harm discussing pros and cons.
