Three army personnel killed after being hit by avalanche in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Three army personnel were killed when they were hit by an avalanche outside their post near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir, officials said on Monday.

The three soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were killed at Roshni Post, around 120 kms here, near the LoC in north Kashmir's Baramulla district last night when they were clearing snow outside their post, a police officer said. The bodies of the three victims have been retrieved, he said.

The upper reaches of Gulmarg, where the post is located, had witnessed heavy snowfall last week.

RIP to the brave souls and condolence to their families !!!

RIP TO THE SOLDIERS ' we as a nation salute them they live in such conditions to protect us '

How many troops has the IA lost to direct enemy action.. and how many to accidents... in that area?
If a number comes up, it will probably come up as more men being lost to the environment then the enemy.

Its the same story at both sides of the border, these are one of the most tough battlefields.

so sad....treaturous conditions up there..
my dad was involved in construction of KKH....and i heard many stories from him of flash floods..avalanches...unexpected huricane force winds..men being sucked into glashers....blizzards and frost bites...
not easy being a soldier...no matter which country you are from.

R.I.P to the dead...and may the families come to terms with the great loss they suffered.

RIP to the dead heart goes out to their loved ones. Its a bad way to die because when the avalance hits you get buried alive and will suffocate due to lack of oxygen not nice at all.

RIP. may god give strength and patience to their families to overcome this tragic loss of lives.
