LCA Tejas Engines failed during high-altitude trials in Leh

Its General electric made engines with enough thrust powers, its surprising that they failed high altitude flying test

Dont worry bro, these are just teething problems, they will be sorted out quickly and our LCA will be ready for combat by 2113 thoda aur samay do hamey :taz:

yea...LCA Mark Mark Mark 10 still awaiting IOC -2.

On a serious note, how can the engine thing be fixed or has been fixed? Subject matter experts? @Oscar ji @sandy_3126

Also, I have a related query. During winter can we assume that any operations from Leh will not take place? had read somewhere, that icing becomes a problem?

The issue is with engine power performance due to the thinner air and less thrust produced by it, moreover.. the thin less dense air creates lesser lift, which means the aircraft stalls at high speeds; i.e. it will need a longer runway and will climb at lesser rates. Two ways to improve are:

1. High lift devices for the aircraft, in case of the Tejas the addition of LEVCONS may provide some extra lift to ameliorate this problem. But the amount of useful combat load the aircraft would be able to carry may diminish.

2. More powerful engine: In thrust we trust, more power will mean the aircraft gains speed faster and gets airborne faster. Not to mention the extra power will allow for a greater load to be taken up into the air.

A combination of the two is the solution to this issue.

There is a altitude correction factor used to correct the engine thrust to sea level specified by the DGQCA on the test report. At higher altitude the density of air is lower along with atmospheric pressure hence the vloume of air flow is lower creating lower thrust and energy efficiency ratio. But the issue here lies with the fadec control that is mated to the HMI of the aircraft, there might be a possibility of needing hardwired presets that define loading conditions for the full load application without reheat, because engine performance map at flying conditions at high altitude are quite different from loading conditions for taking off from high altitude conditions.

So maybe the engine is seeing higher loading at lower barometric pressure and making the engine operate a part load conditions, and there needs to a be a manual override to run the engine full load conditions. With advanced fadec controls the engines these days have become more efficient but also have made controls more difficult.

Worst case scenario might be improper selection of the engine, it thats the case than ADA is pretty much screwed unless they re-engine the damn thing.

IAF might select the wrong engine for LCA, maybe Russia engine is better in high attitude scenario.

JF 17 is a crap!..by the way what does JF stand for joker fighter??

Ya agreed with you its a crap over Indian trolls ..... like you
now shoooo....go away....

Go away..this is what you should be telling chinese selling you these craps..look like your priorities are different..

sorry, I got confused, LCA is that failed jet, not the failed tank.

you known you guys have so many failed projects, just too hard to remember all of them.

you better edit your that mistaken post……:yu:

When you people could implant Balls to MM talk with us than ......

till that time JF-17 is more than sufficient for our use.... :azn:

Yara that troll asked about current status ....... & I don't think till today JF-17 has flown over Gilgit or upper Norhren Region.....

Current status is what is achieved not what is planned……:coffee:
and that operational altitude is achieved and tested thats why it's called official…:coffee:
In pakistan 1 JFT squadron is in Balochistan so you can see its patrolling in Sulmanki ranges and other squadron is at Kamra and no JF-17 is in operational reign of Nothetn areas thats why you never saw…:pop:
when you can fly low its i guess is economical both for jet and engine in cost & fuel so why such altitude should be achieved in common cases when you fon't need them and maybe FOC is too an issue currentely…
but yeah during exercises high altitude sorties are always carried out…:azn:

this is what you should be telling chinese selling you these craps..look like your priorities are different..

We care for you people…:coffee:
Thats why we always buy these chineese crap coz just these craps make you **** in your pants and you can well imagine what if we bought real machine??:azn:
We don't want you to cry or have a heart attack dear……

you look very insecure to always get some crazy animation along with your written content...or do you have inferiority complex and always show westerners in your animation for a better effect..!! hmm...
