See we are not invading others territories v just want our territory back that's it . If u refused we will use our force. Who will support ?? china ??? that in Indian ocean. ok for an argument if china supports SL in wat way that move would be beneficial to China?? I don't think China will risk its big trading partner India for a sake of Island.

Even I know the agreement wats a big deal. I am telling the same thing this agreement is unconstitutional according to our law. Congress failed to pass the amendment in parliament so supreme court order WILL definitely favors TN.

I lazy to draw nicer looking map, but here is a simple map. Each country has its own area, so how just an one country claim this ocean is theirs? specially countries such as Maldives and Sri Lanka's waters are blocking their way, so how they claim areas beyond these countries?

Most of Sri Lankans aren't pro-China or pro-India. Also they don't have a strong feeling that we are "South Asians". As far as I know they love and respect Nepal and Bhutan than other South Asian countries. Sri Lankans are fun loving people who love nature, water, mountains ect ect.

Talks to end territorial waters issue

Sri Lanka is to turn down India's proposal to share territorial waters between Sri Lanka and India to avoid clashes between the two countries relating to fishermen,Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told the Daily News yesterday.

Indian Naval and Coast Guard Department representatives will hold discussions with the Sri Lankan Fisheries Ministry in Colombo today to find a solution in this regard.

"India is requesting Sri Lanka to share the territorial waters with them. But it is against International Maritime Law.

'Fishermen in the the Northern and Eastern provinces do not like to share their maritime boarders," the minister said.

'Indians use the trolling system in fishing. It is an illegal method in Sri Lankan waters. The trolling system damages the sea bed.

'Sri Lankan fishermen have no permission to use this method, he added.

'Satellite photographs show the damages caused by fishermen using trolling in the sea bed', he said.
