Will Mars mission propel India ahead of China in space race?

China had no confidence to launch probe to Mars using its own launcher ....

The US Congress in 2011 banned NASA from cooperating in any way with CNSA. China thus has to build its own deep space tracking network. By 2015 China would be able to launch a probe to Mars.

As Space explorations gets advanced ....there is increased reliance on robotics ...the very reason why US and Russia reduced manned space activities and increased robotic missions is that there is nothing useful to be gained from manned missions that robotic missions can't !

The major purpose of space exploration is for more lebensram beyond planet Earth. Unless people all turn into robots sometime in the future, manned space missions is vital to colonizing space with people.

how it should stop China from using its won launcher to send mars mission ???

Sending a probe to Mars without a deep space tracking network is like trying to shoot a target 2,000 meters away without a scope. :o:
Let's not get too hopeful. The US has explored Mars with an orbiter since 1971 with the Mariner 9 and with ground robots since 1976 with the Viking twins. Mars has been explored in depth for decades. It's unlikely anything new of significance would be discovered about Mars from this point on. Some of Mars' moons, however, could prove more interesting than Mars itself.

Does China have deep space network ?

Do you understand even space-powers like US , Russia have shared their Deep space networks time and again !

Do you even understand what is meant by deep space network ?

Do you understand that the components of any such network are spread across several continents all around the globe and so no single country can have fully self reliant deep space network and need to take help of facilities under aeigis of other countries/instituitions ?

If you are only trying to pick points to belittle India's mission ...atleast try for some worthy points !!!

Yes, China has a deep space network that is currently tracking Chang'e 2 at approx 100 million miles from Earth. By 2015 China's deep space network should be able to track a probe all the way to Mars. The US Congress in 2011 banned NASA from cooperating with China. AFAIK, Russia and China cooperate in space.

Congrats . Even India has Deep space network which enabled it to track Chnadrayaan....
India has upgraded its Deep space network to cover for mars mission ...

US assistance will come into play only in last terminal phase of Mars Orbiter mission. But then it's not big deal ..because Russia , US , EU , Japan have traditionally co-operated with each other regarding sharing of deep space network facilities ....

Reason why China have been banned is because Chinese total disregard for Intellectual rights ...

China's wide spread espionage programmes have created mistrust among nations ....

Sad that China does not enjoy trust within comity of space faring nations that India enjoys !

India has clearly maintained that this is a technology demonstration mission ...

India is yet to send a manned flight to space and needs to install a working station there to start comparing with china, our media is always on extremes of both sides

Let's brace for some super bragging from a nation without toilets and with half the populace below poverty line.Remember the intensive day and night bragging by the Indian media, leaders and officials after the 1998 atomic test (Op Shakti, May1998)? That had forced Nawaz Sharif to arrange for the Chaghi test just 15 days after Pokhran-II .

The same Nawaz Sharif is in power in pakistan, what a luck for pakistan, i bet he can arrange a Mars Mission of Pakistan in 15 days! I wonder what will it be named ?:woot::dance3:

Professional troller ....

I would say no, because India does not have its own deep space tracking network to independently send a probe to Mars. Plus, India has no manned space program.

lets get our fact right, shall we??India has deep space tracking network that can work independently.but co-op in international arena is inevitable.I think its due to NASA's Maven mission,India will use NASA's deep space network for some time,as both mission is going to be launched at the same time.

as for India's manned space mission,we do have a manned space mission.hell,we even tested the required tech in 2007,in which we sent a .SRE into orbit and recovered it safely...

but Human Space Flight isn't ISRO's priority as we're going forward with unmanned mission, which is way cheaper.

by the way,ISRO will conduct another 2 mission to Mars within 2020.

@Genesis @cirr

how many mars mission is planned by China to conduct it within this decade??

There was one more thread similar to this yesterday..... I dono why west is hell bend on making this china vs india...... Every one knows the ground reality.......China is way ahead in Space technology, India is catching up.... not to compete with china but to cater to India's requirement.....

This is not from western press. This is from an Indian guy name Uttara Choudary.

They also written the article

Will Isro Mars mission start an Indo-China space race?
It's just the start. Don't count your chickens yet! Still a long way to go....

Launching the probe is something that India had done many times. Allow the probe to escape gravity and than enter into Mars orbit is the difficult part. Lets wish India best of luck.

there are different sectors of space achievements. India is only ahead of China in making satellite launches less expensive. China is ahead of India in most of the areas.

That part will be done by remote tracking & control of NASA. What do you think "the co-op" for?

Now you should know why India's is so cheap( apart from labout cost). Ruskies, ESA and NASA will handle the expansive and most difficult parts of the mission.
