1971 War - The Indian Navy Attacks Karachi I Operations Room

And oddly - this was advised to the PN that the PAF was ill prepared but they screamed for it regardless.

Joint ops was born post the 71 war

This is where a separate Navy Air Arm would resolve these issues. Currently, the PAF will lend aircraft, but it can pull it back when needed, leaving the Navy with no air escort. It would leave the PN at the mercy of IN Air Force.

According to that logic, Pakistan didn’t retaliate after surrendering en mass in 1971.

But that’s not what my point was. I’m only referring to what happened at the time of the attack. It’s okay if you don’t understand it.

That logic doesn't work here since both india and Pakistan signed ceasefire after which the war ended

Nothing like that happened when PAF bombed IoK and shot down IAF mig 21. Instead India was threatening to fire cruise missiles on Pakistan

So your analogy is completely wrong

In one thread @Kuru admits PN had nothing available to respond and yet makes a snide claim that some response should have been made - imagine his Jonny lever like venomous face going “I know you have no legs but you should have at least kicked once”

Pure condescending venom and nothing less.

Okay but I don’t see a single retaliation by Pakistan. I mean.. even if you don’t have good weapons, you will use whatever you have. They didn’t even TRY to fire a missile at one single Indian boat? Am I missing something?
PN didn't have missile boats or any missiles whatsoever. That's the thing. The only counter Pakistan had to these missile boats was bombing them from the air. But this couldn't be done at night/ would be too risky.

its nice to see a detail analysis of the indo pak wars without screeching and propaganda from both sides

although its funny to see how incompetent the Pakistani military is given advance warning and still caught by surprise

Thanks for this.

Glad finally someone understood my question. 🙏

Harbors were bombed - a destroyer sunk
But the Indian decides he doesn’t want to acknowledge any of it just to ride his pole up and down for two minutes of self fellatio
Well even a video of one of the most successful raids made by India, available to an international audience, is not enough for them it seems...

He is a hindutvadi bhakt

You shouldn't be surprised with his behavior if you know that

Man,imagine being Commander Tasnim. You know the whole fleet is going out,you have the perfect opportunity so sink a lot of their ships, but there's no official declaration of war,you don't know if they will attack and you don't know how the leadership in Pakistan will react. If the Indians are not going to attack, you might start a war because of this. If the Indians do attack, you will have lost the chance to stop this attack and cripple a large part of their fleet.

This is the exact dilemma that makes a submarine operation special. This is not the first time such dilemma happened. Just google about soviet navy incident during Cuban crisis where there was a discussion to launch nuclear attack on USA by a soviet sub.

These subs during operations or circumstances are disconnected from communication from superiors. They can't see or know what's happening above.

It's just here the leadership of submarine commander and his team comes into play.
Watch movie "Crimson tide" to understand this.

Operation Python - The Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, the Indian Navy Western Fleet returns to Karachi to finish off the oil storage depots that were hit during Operation Trident. Later, Pakistani submarine PNS Hangor fights back against the Indian Navy.
