Pakistan and the FMCT (Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty) - Conference on Disarmament

Please look at your country first before dreaming about breaking up of India.

Coming back to the topic, lets see what US does? Nobody can force India to do attack anybody. India is too big for that. India is seen as a partner not like poodle which Pakistan was once.

nobody is a PARTNER for america not even UK or japan all are just tools for them.partnership and equality is only in their speeches not on ground.

It was interesting to read that out of 65 countries, only Pakistan was holding up the resolution. It means that India was able to convince all other 64, which include known Pakistani backers in the past.

A major diplomatic victory, also a symbol of India's perception in the world

Well then they are in for a reality check with India.

Fine if discrimination is way to follow then Pakistan will continue to block any progress further on the fissile cut of treaty. Even if we are alone on this, we will continue to do so and when it comes to vital strategic interests, not even the US could pressurize us to otherwise. They have tried that in the past as well. IMO Pakistan should simply boycott till our genuine concerns are not met.

Thats because no one in the above mentioned countries can claim equality as they are smaller in comparison both in economy and manpower. Also they are very happy to play second fiddle to US. That worked well with their foreign policy.

India is different. It is one country that has its own independent policy, stood up to what it believed in (read Non aligned movement). India is a country that is expected to match US in economic terms by the middle of this century and has a huge demographic advantage. Also I don't think India can be subservient to any country. Its just too raucous democracy.

Does this (64 countries) include Pakistan's best friend and 'brother' in the East? Surprising to see they are not standing with you guys on this.

no country wish to be treated as second class, they are just forced be so.
japan is much bigger economy than india is (don't know about uk and other allies )..but most of them are far more developed than india.
american arms means you haun to continuously appease the US Which means we no longer can afford our independent foreign policy..or else no spare parts and service for military equipment.they will block the use of gps, and other strings of arms agreements are extra.

All US wants from India is to confront China militarily. That will not work since India does not have the guts to confront China for another 40 years. With the naxalites rising in every Indian state India may not even exisit after 40 years.

LOL.. reminds me of the old adage..."When you point a finger at somebody, remember, there are 3 fingers pointed back at you"

Its not guts...its called brains..war helps no one...a good economic development does....that`s why when we can dream of providing jobs in the future. Both india and china are mature enough to realize this. Since this is the economic boom time for both countries, no one is willing to play spoil sport.

Unlike.......you know this part and it must hurt like hell :)

And the naxalite thing....naxalites overthrowing India and kaboob! India exists no more! you must really go stiffy stiffy with that thought....:P

For starters, naxalites would never gain control of nuclear facilities.
On the other hand relegious nut jobs within your defence establishment have caused panic buttons to be pressed in every civil society.

Dont quote these 'soon-to-be-deleted' posts by 'soon-to-banned-members' to give them the attention they dont deserve.

Hmm anyways I believe the title is mis leading ,
we are asking for NSG membership to have better access to nuclear fuel for our civilian reactors not for arms..

We are not asking - US is offering us membership in four key fora - NSG,MTCR,Waasenaar arrangement and the Australia group.

The key amongst these two will be NSG and MTCR (no more restrictions on missile ranges and you can immediately expect Brahmos range being upgraded, or its true range coming out ;) ).Let us see how it proceeds.

Pakistanis are getting well miffed abbout the USA iNDIA nexus.

If India gets F18 super hornets i think Pakistanis will implode with anger and

No you are mistaken, in fact Pakistanis will be more then happy If India buys US equipment after all what better would be then to have a taste of US friendship.
Its called diplomacy, you get something, we make a noise but in the end this whole India US nexus has given us enough leverage to keep blocking the fissile cut of treaty dead in its track while working on our program.

why cry when already pakistans missile and nuclear program is superior to indian program and as per hamid gul anytime hum bangalore ko dhue main uda denge.

If you had understood the article before laughing it off, maybe you would have realized its the quantity we are talking about and not the quality. With recent deals between the US and India, India can increase the numbers manifolds while Pakistan is being asked to adopt and accept the discriminatory treaty which will put us at a severe disadvantage vis-a-vis India.

Firstly,
Pakistan is not India and India is not Pakistan...

secondly,
India is not planning on a war with any country. The very notion of sophisticated weaponry is to prevent others from doing so!

Thirdly,

"Taste of US friendship" that you talk about seems like gold from an Indian perspective. You get sophisticated weaponry, Billions in aid. As far as the WOT is concerned, firstly, blame your inept leadership for putting your country where it is, secondly, WOT is as much your war as it is to the Americans. WOT can be argued with multiple perspectives depending on where your geographical location is , put that on the back burner and the PAK-US relationship does not look bad..

India-US Nuclear Deal is one its kind ... and India got it inspite of being not a member of NPT ... and its got a rock-solid non-proliferation record , unlike Pakistan.

NSG group will open up nuclear fuel supplies to India pretty soon. :yahoo:

Today , Pakistani diplomacy is not so much influential in international circles ... thats why its important to have economic muscle in addition to military might.
